Information management: concept, basic approaches and types of companies
Information management is a technology, the main components of which are:
- staff;
- documents, software and technical means of process support.
Recently, this type of management is becoming popular due to the transition of society to a new, post-industrial stage of development.
Information systems in themanagement, which must necessarily be normatively approved. They are an organizationally ordered set of arrays of documents and technologies with the use of computer facilities and communications, which implement the infoprocess system.
Information systems are designed to,to store, process, search, distribute, transmit and provide data. Therefore, it is necessary to consider in more detail the features of their formation and functioning.
Information management in the organization develops in accordance with the following provisions.
First, it is carried out only within a particular firm.
Secondly, information becomes an independent factor of production, lying in the decision-making process.
Thirdly, information management hasattitude not only to information, but also to all information work of the organization. Moreover, it is a broader and broader concept than simple document management.
Information Management - these are the featuresmanagement of activities for the formation and application of data in the interests of the company. Its main goal is to effectively ensure the development of the company by regulating various types of activities.
There is a different interpretation of the notion of "information management" in different countries.
In the German school, it means a whole set of management goals and objectives, which relates to the sphere of formation and use of information resources.
In the English school, IT management is interpreted as a set of management tasks that are related to the information system.
In the Russian definition of informationmanagement includes a wide range of management tasks, from the solution of which will depend on ensuring the achievement of the objectives of a particular enterprise. This is achieved through the coordinated and effective management of information resources and technologies of the enterprise.
In this type of management in accordance with the above parameters, it is possible to characterize two types of enterprises.
In companies with a high level of application of information management, a number of indicators are singled out:
the management of the organization is able to explain the whole procedure of its organization;
top management takes a direct part in the main procedures and the adoption of strategic orders;
there are clear business goals in order to invest in this sphere;
there is a dynamic in decreasing the changes in management.
In companies with a low level of application of information management, we can distinguish the following series of indicators:
top management such management is perceived as an industry that has a low return on investment;
Information management in this form becomes an obstacle to implementing new company strategies;
contradictory or slow action in IT decision-making;
top management is unable to explain the main and current procedures within this management;
the company's projects in IT never fit into a budget or time frame;
often the mechanisms of management change.
Due to the existence of such two approaches to management, the theory and practice of information management in Russia requires considerable improvement.
