Flag of Romania. History and meaning
Romania - amazing, original and interestinga country that has been attracting numerous tourists from all over the world to its hospitable embrace for several years now. Unfortunately, not all those who are striving here, travel consciously - most want to just go here and see the many historical and natural attractions. But in order to become a true traveler, you need to know about the country that is planned to visit, as much as possible. The Romanian flag is not so popular in society, and few can recognize it from many others, but its history and significance are quite interesting.
Description
Each country has its own distinctivefeatures in heraldry. The flag of Romania is one of the most important state symbols. Visually it looks like this: a rectangular canvas, divided into three broad bands: blue at the pole edge, in the middle yellow and red at the free end.
A bit of history
Officially, the flag of Romania appeared in 1840,although the history of the emergence of this state symbol is much older. Some historians believe that one of the most influential rulers of the Moldavian principality, Stephen the Great, went on a campaign against Poland precisely under the now famous tricolor.
True, there is no official confirmation of this, andthe conclusion was probably made on some pictures. A little more confidence deserves the assumption that all three colors were already on the flag under the Wallachian gentleman Mihai Hrabr, a representative of the Basarab dynasty, who, even for a very short time, managed to unite all the Danubian principalities in a single kingdom - Romania. One can easily assume that the stripes on the flag symbolize these three principalities.
It is noteworthy that it was the tricolor that became the symbol of the revolution that thundered in 1821 and which was headed by Tudor Vladimirescu.
Flag of Romania celebrates its birthday on June 26(the year of birth is 1848). This significant event was preceded by another revolution, which took place in Wallachia. In many ways, the "appearance" of the Romanian flag is similar to the flags of some other European powers.
Value
Flag of Romania, photo of which can be easily seen inbooks and pamphlets dedicated to this country, was created under the influence of the French flag. The period of 1866-1948 was relatively stable, and one of the most important symbols of the country was a smooth tricolor. A little later, already in the fifties of the twentieth century, the flag of the Socialist Republic of Romania appeared on the flag, and after another thirty years or so, as the state system again underwent changes, the coat of arms disappeared. It should be noted that at the time when the Communist Party ruled in the country, the flag of Romania looked as follows: vertically red, yellow and blue stripes, and in the middle there was a coat of arms.
The last revolution, in 1989, put everything in ordertheir places. The coat of arms was carved and the flag was returned to its original appearance. The final chord in the formation of the state symbol was the restoration of the original version of the Romanian flag, without the coat of arms of the SRR.
