Rudyard Kipling, "Elephant": a summary
One of the most famous English writers wasR. Kipling. "Elephant" (a short tale content is the subject of this review) is a popular children's work that has become part of the cycle of his little compositions for children. This book reflects the basic principles of the writer's work: a bright expressive language, an interesting plot, a fantasy, an easy unobtrusive humor.
Introduction
The real master of the literary word becameKipling. "Elephant" (the short content of the work should begin with a description of the country and the conditions in which the protagonist lived) is in many ways an instructive work, which, besides an entertaining plot, is also characterized by an unexpected ending. First, the author acquaints the reader with the animal world that inhabits Africa, but does so through a description of the funny behavior of a small elephant, which is too curious and does not go into its affairs. To all inhabitants of the hottest continent, he asked a variety of questions: the ostrich was wondering why he had feathers growing on his tail, a giraffe - why he had a spotted hide, a hippopotamus - why his eyes were red and so on. For this he was always beaten, but the hero continued to be interested in everything he saw and heard.
String
The real master of the revitalization of nature isKipling. "Elephant" (the short content of the tale should be continued by retelling the episode that served as the beginning of the adventure of the main character) is a fairy tale, which in a child's form tries to explain the structure of the laws of the development of nature. In this respect, the composition is in line with another well-known work of the author - "Mowgli". So, the impetus to the development of the action was the fact that the hero once asked himself what the crocodile was eating for lunch. Everyone around him again beat him for this curiosity, but he did not calm down and left his venture. The ability to colorfully describe the animal world became famous Kipling. "Elephant" (the short content of the fairy tale should necessarily include a retelling of the hero's dialogue with the bird Kolo-Kolo, which advised him to check it himself) is a work that will interest its original story not only of children but also of adults.
Hero's Journey
The most interesting part of the tale is,certainly, the journey of a curious little elephant to the Limpopo River. He thoroughly prepared for this trip, he gained supplies and, confident of his rightness, set out on his journey. Quite detailed described his journey Kipling. "The Elephant" (a short summary for the readers' diary of this tale should include a retelling of the hero's misadventure on the river) - a fairy tale that, with the apparent simplicity of the story, has a profound philosophical meaning, since in it the author, in a somewhat fantastic form, explains the principles of life of the animal world to children. At the center of the narrative are events on the river, which for convenience can be divided into several stages.
Conversation with a python
A brief description of the fairy tale "Elephant Woman" by Kiplingshould include a detailed retelling of those events that occurred with him on the river bank. The first thing that happened to him was a meeting with a two-tone python, to whom he asked the same question about what the crocodile was eating for lunch, and in return received a good punch with his tail. However, he, nevertheless, helped the python to circle around the trunk again, for which he subsequently helped him avoid death from the crocodile.
Conversation with the crocodile
Summary of the story "Elephant" by Kiplingit is necessary to continue the description of his main misadventure, to which the author explains the fact that elephants have large long noses. When the hero approached the river, he accidentally stumbled upon some hard object, which he first took as a log, but it turned out that it was a crocodile. The writer emphasizes that until now the elephant still has never seen these terrible predators and had no idea what they look like. Therefore, he did not recognize him. However, the crocodile immediately introduced himself and expressed his readiness to answer the hero with his strange question, for which he asked to approach him. When the baby performed this instruction, the predator grabbed him by the nose and pulled him toward him. However, the baby elephant began to balk and pulled in the other direction, causing his nose to stretch. But his final salvation was due to the two-tone python, who in time arrived in time for his help, and they jointly pulled out his nose, which, however, had already turned into a real trunk.
Decoupling
One of the most famous writers of his andOur time is Rudyard Kipling. "Elephant" (the short content of the fairy tale should be completed by describing the changes that occurred in the fate of the hero after his nose has greatly extended) is a work that, despite its small volume, occupies a prominent place in the writer's work. The final part of the work is a conversation between the hero and the python who claims that now he has some advantage over other animals. The elephant agrees with him, sets off on his return journey. And indeed, on his way home he discovers that now he can pick off bananas and other fruits from the trees, tear the grass, and not crawl on his knees as he did before, make himself a canopy of mud, and also sing, so that his voice sounded louder than a copper pipe thanks to a trunk. But, most importantly, from now on he was able to repulse those who beat him before for his excessive curiosity. Returning to his congeners, he immediately showed his new possibilities: he hit his trunk so that they flew away for a distance.
The final
Kipling, whose fairy tales are popularall over the world, created a unique world where amazing stories that connect the truth with the original fantasy are happening. At the end of the story the elephant beat all his relatives for the fact that they had beaten him before. When asked about his nose, he claimed to have received it from a crocodile on the Limpopo River. The only animal that the hero did not touch was a colo-bird, he must have done just that, because she advised him to go ashore and get the answer to his own question. In the end, all the other elephants also wanted to have the same noses and together went to the river bank. When they returned, all the fights immediately stopped. Such a moral comment completes the author's narrative.
So, in conclusion, it should be noted that the fairy tale"Elephant" recalls other works of Kipling, who knew how to create a unique fairy-tale world of wildlife, explaining the phenomena occurring in it in a very simple and accessible form.
