History of the Run DMC Group
The contribution of this group to the development of "black" music of the worldit is colossal and, of course, undeniable. Run DMC in today's time are rightfully considered to be the pioneers of modern rap culture. In the eighties this was the most famous of the existing hip-hop bands, which managed to direct the underwater current of the ghetto sounds into the mainstream movement. At the very beginning of 2004, the most authoritative musical edition of that time, Rolling Stone, ranked them forty-eighth in the ranking of the greatest performers of the twentieth century. Undoubtedly, it was a huge breakthrough, which was difficult to overestimate.
Establishment of a group
The trio of the creators of the group met in goodfamous rap fans Hollis. This area of New York was a relatively peaceful black commune of the city. The talented Joseph Simmons, being a teenager, thanks to his older brother Russell, received the long-awaited place for a DJ from the famous local rap artist Curtis Blow. Returning to Hollis, he constantly let listen to the recording of his performances to the best friend Darryl McDaniels, whom he later even liked to rap.
Young musicians were regulars of hip-hopsites and soon became acquainted with the famous DJ Two-Fifths Park Jason Mizell. The creative push followed very soon. The first brainchild of the guys bore the loud and bright name ORANGE KRUSH.
After graduation, clearly and definitivelyhaving defined the creative purposes, the Hollis trio has changed the name to Run DMC. The translation of the band's name was reduced to the addition of scenic pseudonyms of two leaders - Joseph Simmons (Dj Run) and Darryl McDaniels (DMC). Russell almost immediately took up the promotion of his brother's young project.
Musical career
The first single of the beginning team, unfortunately, is notgained success. Relative popularity for Run DMC came to the musicians only at the end of 1983, thanks to the amazing track It's Like That.It should be said that against the backdrop of the then rap music this work really stood out.Which? The debut record was almost immediatelyrecognized by the audience and became a hit, and today even considered a classic hip-hop genre. Then they released another two singles, which confirmed the high class of the band Run DMC.
The albums of this rap team were first receivedpopularity with "white" listeners, which is very revealing. So the guys became pioneers of "black" music on MTV. Run DMC began to use electric guitar in hip-hop music, which was a revolutionary campaign for this genre.
In 1986 the band recorded together withAerosmith the song Walk This Way, which almost instantly occupied the tops of most of the world's hit parades. This composition became a symbol of this creative brotherhood and tolerance, saying that there are no racial barriers in the cultural space.
The Nineties
In the nineties, the activity of this group unexpectedlywent into decline. Jason Mizel temporarily leaves the band and releases a solo album. McDaniels at this time suffers from alcoholism, and Simmons is accused of rape.
After three years of single wanderings Run DMCstill unite and record an album called Down With The King, which raises Christian themes. After the release of the last disc, the band again leaves the field of view of their fans and media radar, now for many years. Rumors of their disintegration began to flow again.
Last years
In 2002 the group again unites and givesTour Together with Rick Rubin in the US, and also participates in the national rap music concerts. At the end of October 2002, Jason Misel, who had three sons, was found dead in his own studio. The assassins are not installed to this day.
Run DMC will forever enter the history of world music as the main legislators of hip-hop culture.
