How to make Bengal fire at home: compounds and technology

Getting the necessary ingredients
Buy some of the necessary substances is not obtainedalways. So before you can make Bengal fire at home, it may be necessary to prepare the components. The simplest situation is with dextrin: it is formed when the usual starch is heated in the oven. The temperature is set at 195 Celsius, the treatment is carried out until the raw material acquires a brownish hue.
If you stayed on a recipe with aluminum powder, you'll have to do it outdoors. In the mortar rub aluminum powder, potassium nitrate and sulfur in proportions of 30:45:25.
Important: the wire
It is worth paying attention and the basis for which youwill keep your "fireworks". Here, too, there are several subtleties. Firstly, the length: cut the wire with at least 14 cm pieces, so you will protect your hand from sparks or incandescent material. Secondly, the thickness. Take the wire with a cross section of 2-3 mm. Thin can burn out and break. Third, the material. Neither copper nor aluminum are suitable - the temperature of the mixtures is high, and they will simply melt. Look for steel wire. And do not forget before you make a Bengal fire at home, turn one end into a hook so that you can hang it dry. If you bend the embarrassment, it can later be straightened or bored.
How to make a Bengal fire with your own hands: instruction
In addition to all chemicals and rods, you will needcapacity in which the composition will be prepared. First, aluminum powder or barium salt is poured there, then - dextrin, and only after mixing - the remaining components of the selected mixture. When the dry powder is blended approximately to homogeneity, a little solvent is poured into it (it is possible - water, but better than alcohol). Consistency should resemble boiled condensed milk. The length of the wire is lowered into the composition, leaving for the "handle" 5-7 cm. The future Bengal fire is suspended to dry for a quarter of an hour, after which the manipulations are repeated twice more. Three layers will dry out for half an hour, and then two more are already described. The final drying will take half a day, and can be set on fire.
Another way
Often, people use a slightly differenttechnology, how to make Bengal fire at home. First, a strong paste is made from starch and tap water. Then, the ignition mixture is blended, which includes fine-grained iron filings, magnesium powder (alternatively aluminum), kitchen salt and Berthollet. With the latter you must handle carefully, and before pouring a little to wet it. The mixture is mixed in brewed starch until smooth. In the same way dipped rods with time intervals between the application of layers.
Colored sparks
