Grapes. Reproduction at home

The dream of many summer residents is to grow on their ownThe area is delicious and very useful grapes. Reproduction of the plant in Siberia is not obtained by all. Culture has come to this region recently, and the experience of growing is not enough. But in the southern regions, where climatic conditions allow the cultivation of grapes, reproduction of it is not difficult. There many experienced wine growers with a light hand - stuck a chibouk into the ground, and in 2-3 weeks it begins to turn into a vine.

Ways of reproduction of grapes

Grapes. Reproduction

It is grown from seeds, cuttings (they are calledchibouks), layers and vaccinations. Which of these ways is the best? Let's start in order. The first method is suitable only for obtaining decorative grapes to decorate arbors, arches. Plants from the seeds develop very long - it will take 5 years, or even 6, until they become fruit-bearing. But the grapes will be wild - with sour and tasteless berries. The fact is that the plant from the bone will not repeat all the qualities of the variety. So do not buy seedlings from strangers. Grapes from them can be grown from a stone.

The best and most common in beginnerslovers of gardeners method - the reproduction of grapes at home with cuttings, or, as they are often called, chibouks. Cuttings are harvested from annual shoots during autumn pruning when preparing the vine for shelter for the winter. Escape clean from the leaves, inspect, whether the bark and eyes (kidneys) are well formed. From the middle or lower part of the shoot, with a diameter of 7-10 cm, 40-centimeter cuttings are cut. The lower cut is done immediately below the lower eye, and the upper one, retreating from the upper eyelet by 2 cm.

Harvested cuttings soak for about 20 hourswater with a temperature of +15 ... +18 degrees Celsius. This is necessary to ensure a reserve of moisture in the cuttings, so that they do not dry out during storage before planting. Then, to protect against mold, cuttings are cut into a solution of 5% iron sulfate for an hour or two. After this, the cuttings are allowed to dry slightly, tied in bundles, wrapped in wet sackcloth, placed in plastic bags, which are tightly knotted, providing a label with the name of the variety. Store cuttings in a dry cool basement with a temperature of +2 ... +5 degrees Celsius.

At the end of January, three cuttings are releasedand fill the bottom with wet sawdust from coniferous wood, regularly moisturizing. Callus - the primary root tissue - will form on the cuttings during this time. In advance it is necessary to prepare for planting pots (boxes), filling them with a mixture composed of equal parts of sand, compost and peat. Cuttings with roots are planted in prepared containers and put on the window, periodically watering, you can feed a complex fertilizer such as "Kemira" (1 tsp for 3 liters of water).

For better rooting, you can cover cuttingsglass banks, periodically removing them, accustoming seedlings to the air environment. When spring frosts pass, entrenched cuttings with leaves are planted in the ground, trying not to destroy the earth lump on the roots. Water the seedlings first every 2-3 days, not allowing the soil to dry out, and then as necessary. From a bush grown from a handle, in a year or two you can collect grapes.

Ways of reproduction of grapes
Reproduction by layers and inoculations can beis produced in several ways. To perform such works you need to have a horticultural experience. In short: to obtain a bush from a layer, an adult plant is needed. Vaccinations are made in the event that there is a desire to grow non-resistant varietal grapes. Reproduction in this case will occur from the root system of the winter-resistant variety, capable of withstanding low negative temperatures.
