TSMV - what is it, is therapy required?
Currently, there are viralinfectious diseases that can be asymptomatic, and can affect internal organs and the central nervous system. One of them is CMV. What is this infection, is it necessary to treat it? About this and talk.
CMV causes a member of the familyherpesvirus - cytomegalovirus. Previously it was assumed that infection occurs only through saliva and kisses. However, later the scientists found out that the virus can be transmitted transplantently (from mother to fetus), with sexual contact, by the way of life, as well as during transplantation of tissues, organs and blood transfusion.
"TSMV - what is this?"- this question is often asked by pregnant women, because they worry about their child. This infection is not dangerous to people, since 50% of the adult population are its carriers. Many of them do not even suspect about its existence. But the disease can lead to severe consequences for the child whose mother first infected the virus during pregnancy.
Preventive measures
Transfusion uses blood from healthy donors. Patients at risk are shown to use immunoglobulin. To prevent congenital infection, the mother should limit contact with sick adults and young children, wash hands frequently, have a separate dish and a towel. If a child is born from a mother with active cytomegalovirus, but has no signs of disease, then it should not be fed with breast milk.
To understand whether you need to undergo treatment,it is necessary to undergo a complete examination and determine the symptoms of the disease. As a rule, doctors offer to donate blood to CMV. The ELISA method determines the presence of antibodies to the cytomegalovirus. There are several possible results:
- IgM - no, IgG - no. The organism does not know this virus, there is no immunity to it. If the blood test for cMV is exactly the same in a pregnant woman, then she should limit all contacts to possible carriers of infection.
- IgM - no, IgG - yes. Infection has long happened, and immunity keeps infection under control. The risk of transmission of the virus to pregnant women in this case does not exceed 1%.
- IgM - yes, IgG - no. Infection has occurred recently, the body is fighting the virus. To plan pregnancy it is necessary after disappearance of antibodies IgM and occurrence IgG (some weeks).
- IgM - yes, IgG - yes. CMV-interpretation in this case can be interpreted in two ways: either the infection occurred recently, and in the blood there are both classes of antibodies, or the reactivation of an old infection occurred. The pregnancy should be planned after the disappearance of IgM antibodies.
Treatment is carried out only if symptoms of the disease appear along with the active phase. In the absence of signs of a cold or lesions of internal organs in adults, therapy is not required.
Treatment of CMV
What is this illness, we have established. As this ailment causes herpesvirus infection, its therapy is very problematic. The fact is that it is impossible to completely "drive out" the virus from the body: it simply falls asleep and is in a latent form (like a simple herpes - once infected, a person will never get rid of it). To suppress the active virus, use immunomodulatory and antiviral drugs, which are prescribed only by a doctor. Self-medication is strictly not recommended, because some of the drugs are ineffective and even lead to unforeseen reactions.
