First aid for burns
Burn refers to tissue damage, which is caused by external factors. Burns can be thermal (occur under the influence of high temperatures), chemical (occur under the influence of chemicals), electrical (are the result of the action of an electric current). The faster the first medical aid for burns is given, the more likely the victim will recover as soon as possible.
Burns fall into the following categories:
- The first degree. It is characterized by acute pain, redness of the skin, swelling of the affected area.
- The second degree is characterized by rapid flaking of the skin surface in the affected areas. Bubbles with a yellowish liquid form in such places. Burned skin is extremely painful.
- At the third degree necrosis of the upper layers of the skin is observed.
- The fourth degree occurs under the influence of high temperatures. This causes necrosis of deeper tissues.
Proper first-aidBurns in many ways facilitates further treatment. Immediately it is necessary to stop the impact of all dangerous factors on the victim. As a rule, for this purpose it is necessary to remove the burning, smoldering or impregnated with chemicals clothes. The person must be removed from the danger zone. The skin areas where the burns were formed need to be cooled very quickly.
First aid for burnsthe victim should include anesthesia. A person should be given, for example, several analgin tablets, etc. Ointment for burns, as well as any powders, is not used.
With first or second degree burnsalcoholic compresses are recommended: folded in several layers gauze wipes are moistened in ethyl alcohol and superimposed on a burn. Waxed paper is put on top of it and everything is bandaged. This will help reduce the pain. If more than 30% of the skin surface is affected, the person should be covered with a clean sheet and provide him with peace.
If the injured person does not complain of nausea,it must always be given in small portions of warm coffee, tea, acid-base solution (per liter of water, a teaspoon of salt and a half teaspoon of soda). In order to warm, a person should be wrapped up with blankets, warm clothes and so on.
It is very important to observe safety rules and protect yourself and others from accidents.
