Ringer's solution. Description of the preparation and its use
Is it possible to compensate for fluids in the body, including electrolytes, and what drug is used for this very often?
Ringer's solution. Application and description of the preparation
Ringer's solution is a clear liquid, inthe composition of which includes sodium, calcium and potassium chlorides. The main purpose of this solution is to compensate for losses in the body of the extracellular fluid along with the basic electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium) and chlorides.
As a rule, Ringer's solution is used forresearch of tissue activity or perfusion of individual organs. Possessing brilliant preserving properties, it allows to preserve the functionality and physiological properties of living tissues for a long time. That is why Ringer's solution found the greatest application in medical experiments and transplantology. It is also actively used for the treatment of animals, supporting the vitality of their internal organs.
However, the main use of the drug found whenshock, collapse, frostbite, burns, prolonged diarrhea and vomiting. It has a detoxification effect, stabilizing and correcting the electrolyte and water composition of the blood. Ringer's solution is successfully used as an aid in the dehydration of genesis, hypovolemic shock, hyponatremia, metabolic acidosis with an abundant loss of fluid.
The daily dose of the drug is 5-20 ml / kg foradults. In this case, the dosage of the drug can be increased if necessary in 2 times. The injection rate is approximately 30 cap / min. The maximum amount of solution administered per day should not exceed 3 liters. In case of overdose, there is an increased concentration of electrolytes in the blood and a violation of acid-base balance, which leads to difficulty breathing, deterioration in overall well-being or loss of consciousness.
Contraindications to the use of Ringer's solution are:
- edema of the lungs or brain,
- heart failure,
- oliguria,
- anuria,
- hypervolemia,
- acidosis,
- chronic renal failure,
- hyperchloremia,
hypernatremia or hypercalcemia.
The drug is also limited for patients withhypersensitivity to key components of the solution (calcium, potassium and sodium chlorides, they can cause allergic reactions, and with this you should be careful.
Ringer Locke's solution can be activelyinteract with other drugs. This is why sodium can be delayed in the body while taking anabolic drugs, corticotropin, estrogens, mineralocorticoids, gangliablocators or various vasodilators. During pregnancy, the drug is excluded or used only if the benefit exceeds the risk factor for the fetus. Breastfeeding during the reception of Ringer's solution is prohibited, since its components through the mother's milk reach the baby, causing an allergic reaction or triggering malignant processes in his body (not always, but this, unfortunately, is possible). At this time, when it is necessary to introduce a solution, it is better to switch to quality and tested infant formula.
Ringer's solution is available in a vial ofclear solution. The drug is dispensed in pharmacies only on prescription and stored in a dry place, where children's access is limited. Injections of a medicine are allowed only in medical institutions or with the direct participation of a medical worker. It is allowed to use only undamaged vials with unexpired shelf life, which, as a rule, is not more than two years. If Ringer's solution is cloudy, the drug should not be used, even if the information on the package is not in doubt.
