Youth as a social group: what happens to it?

It is at a young age that a person chooses histhe main path and the directions in which his life will follow. At this time, we determine our own destiny, because life does not provide another such opportunity.

Youth as a social group has its ownevaluation criteria and characteristics that distinguish it from all other groups in society. At the moment, young people are analyzed in terms of several criteria: age, psychological and social characteristics. Usually the last two characteristics are considered together:

  1. Features of emotional susceptibility.
  2. The pursuit of risk.
  3. High degree of mobility and adaptation to existing situations.
  4. The desire to maximize themselves and their strength.
  5. Critical attitude to the older generation and nihilism in relation to modern reality.
  6. Striving for freedom and ideal.

Youth as a social group passes through the socializing stage of development, and also assimilates the educational and civic qualities that must prepare it for the performance of "adult" duties.

Let us note that in the Russian social science itFor a long time it was not considered a separate social cell. The fact is that it did not fit into the definition of class structure. For the first time the definition of the term "youth" was given in 1968 by V. Lisovsky. Then other interpretations started by psychologists and sociologists began to appear.

At the moment, young people as a social group have certain boundaries: the lower one begins at the age of 14, and the upper one ends when a person achieves economic and personal independence.

Young people in Russia as well as in otherstate, is characterized by a maximalist attitude towards reality and uncompromising in life. This is used by all political parties and figures who begin to skillfully manipulate these features, involving youth leaders in their games on the eve of the next election. Of course, modern youth has definite and clear views on the events in the country, but politicians do not consider them.

Note that modern youth has a number ofsocial problems, which, as it turned out, have nothing to do with public interests. Modern politics regarding this category of people is feasible only on paper.

Youth as a social group is heterogeneous: it is divided in the place of residence (rural and urban), social belonging and relation to the subculture.

Since the problems of society are in a dynamic, they are projected on young people. Since they are the most vulnerable to the conditions of the surrounding reality, the situation is further exacerbated.

And this applies to virtually all spheresexistence. Let's notice that the life of modern youth is aggravated also by the fact that the state does not give proper attention to young families, they do not have the necessary support. After all, parents can not always help their children, and the market system has led to the development of such problems.

We also note that the conflict with thethe older generation, which not only does not help the socialization of young people, but also is a brake on the movement of this process. In particular, the number of conflict situations and manifestations of deviant behavior is increasing.

Also noticeable is the decreaseinterest of the younger generation in labor, because at present it becomes problematic to satisfy their needs through conscientious work for the benefit of society.

Because at present the youth as a socialthe group is considered the least protected both politically and socially. And this can not but affect her perception of reality and behavioral reactions.
