The Animals (translated from English as "Animals")- an incredibly successful British rock band of the 60s. It is noteworthy that this collective was one of the main representatives of the so-called British invasion: in this way it is customary to call the cultural phenomenon that occurred in the 60s when the American music scene was filled with artists from England. Create a group
The actual date of creation of this musicalthe collective can be considered 1959. This year, two Newcastle residents - Alan Price (keyboard player) and Brian Chandler (bass player) met while in a musical band called The Kansas City Five (translated from English "Five from Kansas City"). Since both guys were fond of blues and jazz, soon on a wave of common tastes they decided to build their own band. Next, John Steele (the drummer) joined the guys. Thus, a collective was formed around which in a dozen years fans will form a real cult.
Further activities
Nevertheless, to the worldwide glory and recognition wasstill far. The musical collective was experiencing certain difficulties - the "Enimal" group was not in demand at that time. The fact is that its composition was incomplete. The guys were not invited to the clubs. It was believed that the group "Enimal" did not correspond to the then concepts of the musical ensemble. However, the musicians did not despair - they invited friends and acquaintances to their performances. So, soon the group was replenished with talented guitarist and vocalist Hilton Valentine and Eric Burdon, who had rather unusual vocal data.
The group gradually gained momentum. The collective more often performed in various nightclubs. Talented guys quickly absorbed professionalism and fame. By the end of 1963, the Enamils group had a decent reputation in Newcastle and its surroundings. This allowed the musicians to give a whole series of concerts with the then-famous bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson, who toured England. It should be noted that these were not "warm-up" performances, on the contrary - a full-fledged tour, during which Williamson played along on guitar during some compositions of the British band, and "Enimal" members, in turn, took part in performing bluesman songs .
In December 1963, the group "Enimal" acted inlocal club, and unexpectedly this event became for the team fateful. Part of the concert was recorded on small plates, which were soon released in limited editions (only 500 copies). One of the records accidentally fell into the hands of London manager Giorgio Gomelsky, due to which the group moved to London.
The band was at the top of glory (photo group"Enimal" can be seen below). The team regularly went on tour in England. Sometimes "Enimal" participated in the tour with popular performers. For example, with Chuck Berry, the group The Swinging Blue Jeans (translated from English "Suspended blue jeans"). Also do not forget about the albums and singles, which brought the musical community a wide fame throughout the world. Soon, the group "Enimal" went on tour to the United States of America, where she conducted a number of tours and concerts.
Decay of the collective
In 1965, the band released a new album, thanks to which "Enimal" topped the popular music ratings. Nevertheless, within the collective a conflict was brewing. The soloist of the group "Enimal" Eric Burdon wanted to perform classical American blues, but most of the musicians were against such a decision. In addition, Berdon could not divide the leadership with Alan Price. As a consequence, on May 5 of the same year, Alan left the Enamils and created his own group. Soon the band left the drummer John Steele. The musicians quickly found a replacement. The guys recorded a new album called "Enismalism", which took high positions in the charts, once again confirming the high status of the band. Nevertheless, this did not help to solve chronic problems. As a result, the rock group "Enimal" disintegrated.
Joint performances
Although the group disintegrated, two years later the Enamilsagain gathered to give a concert in Newcastle. In January 1976 the collective again appeared on the same stage in its classical composition. In the same year it was decided to record a new album. Next time the group "Enimal" again gathered only in 1983 and 1993, delighting the crowds of fans.
The songs of the group "Enimal"
"Enimal" always differed quite the sameatypical repertoire. If the then groups played successful songs of popular rock guitarists, then most of the repertoire of "Enimal" was composed of blues compositions. Also you can not say about the manner of performance. In their songs, "Enimal" always focused not on the guitar, like most rock bands, but on keyboard instruments. In addition, the distinctive feature of the band is the soloist Eric Berdon, who boasts a fairly lively and expressive manner of performance. It is for this feature that the group received its original name.
Perhaps one of the most famous compositionsgroup - this is the single The House of the Rising Sun. The song was known to the public long ago because it was recorded by various artists, beginning in 1933. Nevertheless, thanks to the "Enamils", it became a real hit. The House of the Rising Sun, performed by The Animals, took 122nd place in the rating of 500 best songs according to the well-known magazine Rolling Stones. In addition, the group has created such hits as Baby Let Me Take You Home, Boom Boom, Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood, Dimples, I Put A Spell On You, Im Mad Again and others.
