Pop art yesterday and today
Pop art is an international movement in the arts, primarily in painting, sculpture and graphics, emerged independently in England and the United States in the mid-1950s and became in the 1960s the dominant form of artistic expression in North America and Europe. Images borrowed in the media, in advertising created for the purpose of selling goods and services, are depicted in photorealistic form.
Pop art today is most associated withworks of New York artists: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist and others. But the main events that have become part of the new art form have occurred in different countries (Britain, Spain, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan). After the movements of abstract expressionism and neodadism, pop-reintroduction into identifiable images was a big shift in the modernist direction. The subjects studied did not belong to the traditional "high art", dedicated to the themes of mythology, history, generally valid values, and the characteristics of the surrounding world.
"Photoshop" allows you to create the effect of thisretro-style, which in modern times is extremely popular in interior design. There are even special training programs, so today everyone can become almost Roy Lichtenstein or Andy Warhol. By the way, many of the artists started their star career in commercial art. For example, Andy Warhol was a very successful illustrator of magazines and graphic designer, James Rosenquist - advertising billboard designer, Ed Rusha - graphic designer. Their experience greatly enriched the visual vocabulary of popular culture.
Pop art in the interior makes his design unusual andvery colorful. The purpose of the style associated with the "uprising" against conservative norms in art is to be brave and luxurious. Images used for decoration can be of different sizes (from small illustrations to huge wall murals). A bright color palette will immediately decorate any room and be sure to attract attention. Pictures created in Photoshop, with the effect of pop art can be hung over the sofa, bed, fireplace (if there is one). Also it is necessary to think over furniture: sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables. It is desirable that it be of simple shapes, but at the same time catchy, with futuristic elements (for example, a chair-egg), with ornaments, contrasting drawings.
