The history of the monastery and the further formation of the architectural complex
In the 18th century, the Holy Trinity nunnery inMurom was still a modest monastery. Here lived only a few nuns, led by the abbess. There were no rich lands near the monastery. Donations also came rarely. However, as early as 1764, nuns were transferred here from three more abolished monasteries - Vvedensky Viazemsky, Murom Resurrection and Desert Jerusalem Deserts, after which the monastery became quite famous.
In 1786 The gallery of the Trinity Cathedral was rebuilt, as well as the porch. In 1792 the Holy Trinity nunnery in Murom was badly damaged by fire. The fire destroyed the wooden elements of the roof, as well as all the cells. In 1805 the wooden fence of the monastery burned down. Two years later a new stone was built. Money for its construction was given by the forwarder, the widow of AD Neimanov. In 1810 the Three Saints chapel of the Trinity Cathedral was rebuilt, to which a new chapel was added. The shrines of the monastery
The Holy Trinity Monastery has twomost interesting shrines. The main one can be considered the Vilensky Cross - a relic with prisoners in it particles of the relics of saints. According to researchers, this item was manufactured in the late seventeenth century. About this relic was written a well-known literary work - "The Story of the Miracles of the Vilnius Cross."
After the revolution, the shrine was kept in one of themuseums of the city of Murom. In 1996, she was transferred back to the monastery. In the spring of 1999 the Vilensky Cross was boldly stolen from the monastery. However, in his place in the Holy Trinity nunnery in Murom, he returned very quickly. The criminal who committed the theft was caught in the summer of the same year.
There is one more revered relic- the power of Fevronia and Peter. These Christian saints are considered patrons of the family. According to legend, Prince Peter, who defeated the devil, who appeared in Moore as a serpent, fell seriously ill from the poisonous drops of blood of the evil one who got on his skin. He was cured by a commoner, healer Fevronia. In gratitude, Peter married her. The church connects this legend with the life of quite real historical figures - Prince David and his wife Fevronia, who really came from an ordinary peasant family and knew how to treat people. In family life, David and Fevronia were very happy and died on the same day.
Holy Trinity Monastery (Murom, pl. Peasant, d. 3A) is definitely worth a visit to all lovers of Russian history. Feast of the relics of Fevronia and Peter follows those families who can not, but want to have a child. It is believed that these saints are capable of accomplishing such a miracle as well.
