Artificial polymers have firmly entered our life

Artificial polymers are materials andsubstances obtained by deep synthesis from one or more substances. Most often, one component is taken as a basis, various additives are added to it and at the output they have a completely new product with unique properties. This happens because the changes occur at the molecular level, creating a new macromolecule.

artificial polymers
Artificial polymers are divided into biopolymers andsynthetic polymers. The basis of both kinds is carbon. This is a molecule that is modified to give it new qualities. Biopolymers are produced by modification, that is, giving the initial substance the missing properties. Basically, this is done in order to impart plasticity or strength to the material. An example is the preparation of a polymer called "celluloid", which is produced from natural raw materials - cellulose (it is itself a natural polymer), then it goes for fabrication. Synthetic species are obtained in two technological ways. These are methods of polymerization and polycondensation. They allow to get new substances from nitrogen, oil gas, carbon dioxide and hydrogen. In this way, polypropylene is produced - it is a polymer that is used in almost all areas of human activity.

artificial polymers are

Artificial polymers have a widedistribution in industry and at home. These materials are durable, durable, elastic, relatively cheap compared to natural materials. The word "natural" gradually becomes
a certain symbol that significantlyincreases the cost of the finished product. Many believe that natural materials guarantee quality and environmental friendliness. At the same time, few people think about how artificial polymers actually get. Examples of such materials show that most of them are produced from natural raw materials using synthetic additives. Natural raw materials for all mankind are not enough.

artificial polymers examples

Artificial polymers under the names "silicone" and"latex" is actively used in medicine and cosmetology. Of them, implants are made, they are used in the manufacture of medical equipment, care products and other things.

Artificial polymers in the form of plasticare used in the automotive industry, for the production of household and electronic equipment and much more. Many items in our houses are made of plastic: decoration materials, household items, toys. All these things can be both environmentally safe, and represent a certain danger to life. It depends on the quality of the material. The fact is that the very basis for creating a polymer is inert from the point of view of ecology. But technological additives: various antioxidants, stabilizers, colorants and so on - can be harmful to health. They can cause allergic reactions or poisoning. Therefore, the plastic thing is chosen by smell. A quality polymer has no smell.
