When planting asters on seedlings and in open ground

In the Russian climate, asters are usually planted with seedlings. There are also perennial varieties that tolerate winter well enough, but have smaller flowers.
Annual varieties are grown first in a greenhouse or on a windowsill. Strict restrictions on the timing of when to plant asters on seedlings, does not exist.
There are several factors to consider:

- degree of illumination of the greenhouse or window sill;
- climate in the region;
- duration of daylight hours.

Seeds are sown on moistened soil, the top is covered with a sand washed layer of 2 cm. Then gently poured from the gum or moistened with a sprayer, cover the boxes with a film.
If everything is done correctly, then the first shootswill be visible in 5-7 days. For further successful growth, the flowers need sufficient lighting, regular watering and air temperature within + 17-20 ° C during the day and up to +15 ° C at night.
The segregation method described above will allowget a beautiful mass flowering in August, and in warm, clear weather - even at the end of July. Those wishing to obtain their own seeds need to leave a few plants until the end of September or beginning of October. It should be borne in mind that hybrids are unsuitable for collecting seeds, since in the next generation the plant degenerates.
