Orchids cymbidium at home
To the orchids of the cymbidium pleased with their flowering at home, it is necessary to observe several rules for their cultivation. Then the plant will feel good and with it there will be no problems.
Orchid cymbidium. Photo and growing conditions
Window sills for this plant will suit Westernand eastern. If you decide to place on the south - you need to shade. Orchids of the cymbidium require bright illumination, but they do not tolerate high temperatures. Therefore, in the summer time on the south window sill can overheat and suffer from this. Hybrid cymbidium orchids can adapt to the conditions of your apartment if the temperature is not more than eighteen degrees in winter and in autumn. And in the summer they need air heated to thirty-five degrees. Long-term high temperatures (especially in enclosed spaces) can lead to the death of the plant. Or just to damage its appearance - the leaves become lethargic, the air tubers wrinkle, part of the roots dies.
Care of roots and leaves. Orchid transplant and substrate
The roots of the cymbidium grow towardsubstrate. Once a month, in order to clean them, the pot with the plant needs to be rinsed under a stream of running water. As the new air tubers take root, the roots gradually disappear into the substrate. Leaves of orchids should be wiped with a soft cloth, clearing from dust. Transplant the cymbidium every two years. This must be done because the substrate cracks and becomes unsuitable. When transplanting remove dead old roots - they are simply cut off with a sharp knife. The old same air tubers must be carefully separated and placed in wet moss - they can germinate. Carefully refer to the selection of components for the substrate. The main part should be the crust and sphagnum moss. Additional components are sand, gravel, peat and humus. Dry bark will not work. Before inclusion in the substrate, you need to soak it for a couple of days to soak with moisture. Then you will need to rinse the bark under running water. As a drain to the bottom of the pot, put some gravel.
All kinds of cymbidium orchids (photo demonstrates themvariety) are relatively unpretentious and can grow and successfully blossom in an amateur's apartment. Hybrid plants are more resistant to diseases and fluctuations in air humidity.
