"Volvo" - one of the world's leaders inproduction of heavy vehicles. Among a wide range of models produced can be identified saddle tractor "Volvo FH12". It is designed to work as part of a road train with a total weight of up to sixty tons.

A bit of history

The production of the "Volvo FH12" (photo below) started back in 1993. And up to this point there were seven years of development. And not surprising, given the fact that the car was designed from scratch.

At first, only two versions were produced. They differed mainly in power units. One version was equipped with an engine with a volume of twelve liters with a direct injection system. The second modification was equipped with a motor with a large volume (sixteen liters).

In 1998, manufacturers decided to restyling. The changes affected the technical side. There were more powerful engines (460 horsepower). The transmission was refreshed, the torque increased to 2.5 kNm. Electronic control has changed. In the cab appeared a screen showing all the necessary indicators.

Power units have also changed. Over the years, several more powerful engines appeared in the engine lineup. Restyling took place in 2008. All the changes concerned improvement of comfort and safety.

And finally, the third generation of the "Volvo FH12" appeared in 2012. Its main difference is an independent suspension.

Powertrains

The line of semitrailer tractors "FSH" is distinguished by a wide variety of engines.

For example, the 12-liter D12A engine has a capacity of up to five hundred horsepower. This value is achieved due to an intermediate cooling and a turbocharger. Corresponds to the norms of "Euro-3".

Another popular version of the engines - D13A. It is a diesel engine with cylinders arranged in a row. The working volume is 12.8 liters. It has several capacity options in the range of 400-520 horsepower.

Main characteristics

The car is capable of ninety speedkilometers per hour. Fuel consumption per hundred kilometers is 36 liters on the highway and 42 liters in the city. The volume of the fuel tank is 690 + 490 liters (main + extra).
