The drug is characterized by good absorption, the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB).
Diphenhydramine in ampoules is used, as a rule, fortreatment of hay fever, urticaria, capillarotoxicosis (hemorrhagic vasculitis), serum sickness, acute iridocyclitis, dermatoses (itching), angioedema, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis and other allergic diseases, including to alleviate symptoms in complications of taking medications, in particular, antibiotics.
Like other antihistamines, the medication is used to treat radiation sickness.
A relatively small activity is manifested by the drug "Dimedrol" (in ampoules) with bronchial asthma. In this case, it is prescribed in combination with ephedrine, theophylline and other medicines.
In some cases, "diphenhydramine" in ampoulesprescribe for peptic ulcer in the stomach, hyperacid gastritis. The drug, along with other blockers of H1 receptors, can be used for transfusion of blood-substituting fluids and blood, as well as using enzyme and other drugs in order to reduce adverse reactions.
"Dimedrol" is shown in air and seaillness, chorea, Meniere's syndrome, vomiting of pregnant women. Assign the drug intramuscularly or intravenously.
Dosage for children from fourteen years of age and adults - one or three times a day for 1-5 ml, children up to fourteen years - 0.3-0.5 ml of 1% solution.
Contraindications for glaucomaclosed-angle, prostatic hyperplasia, hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer in the duodenum and stomach, epilepsy, neck stenosis in the bladder, children up to seven months.
In pregnancy, bronchial asthma and lactation, the use of "Diphenhydramine" is allowed by appointment and under the supervision of a doctor.
The use of the drug may cause sensationheart beat, lowering blood pressure, extrasystole, tachycardia. Patients in some cases noted dryness of the mucous (throat and nasal cavity), stuffiness in the nose, a feeling of chest compression.
The use of "diphenhydramine" may causeimpaired coordination, dizziness, confusion, nervousness, agitation, tremor, cramps, irritability. Negative reactions are also vomiting, epigastric pain, diarrhea, visual impairment, thrombocytopenia, anaphylactic shock, photosensitization, increased sweating, and other manifestations.
When an overdose occurs CNS depression,dilated pupils, development of depression or arousal (in children).
