Identity card - what is it?

Surely more than once you have come acrossthe situation when it is necessary to present an identity card. But organizations and departments require different lists of various documents for such purposes. For servicemen a separate document has been developed,certifying their legal status. As you may have guessed - this is the identity card of a serviceman of the Russian Federation. Such a document is unlimited and is valid all the time while a person is in military service. The regulation on its application has been approved by the government, and the form of the form has been approved by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. But this document is issued only to professional military personnel. For ordinary and junior commanders, who are on duty or on contract, as well as for cadets, an identity card is a military ticket.

To enter and leave Russia,in addition to the civil passport, the legislators provided for special documents - a service passport, a diplomatic passport and a seaman's passport. They certify the identity and citizenship of Russians abroad and can contain electronic media of various information. In electronic form, basic personal information, including biometric information, is recorded.

Of course, there are many other certificates, the legal basis of which is fixed by departmental orders. But we recall that we are only talking about documents that operate at all levels and throughout Russia.

But for today it is just a pilot project, launched in just a few regions of the country. UEC can not fully replace the passport, and their validity period is only five years. Of course, in the future there is a transition to electronic passports. Nevertheless, until all the problems related to electronic personalization are studied, the usual paper passport will remain the main certifying document for a long time.
