History of the stadium
Central Stadium of Trade Unions (Voronezh)is located next to the seat of the former cadet corps. In it, during physical education lessons, pupils often played football, practicing the skills of the game. In 1917, the Executive Committee of Workers' and Deputies issued a decree on the granting of a site for the Cadet Corps to host youth sports games.
Then the first football field appeared. It was drawn by a line in the middle, had penalty areas and a real gate, but without grids. The first football field became a serious impetus to the development of this sport in Voronezh. First, money for viewing amateur matches in a self-made stadium was not taken. The first tickets appeared a little later (in 1924) and cost only 10 kopecks.
By this time, the trade union stadium (Voronezh) hadalready three football fields, which framed benches in two rows. In 1927, the construction of a new sports complex was started on Haymarket Square. But the erection of the arena was somewhat delayed. The first mention of the stadium dates back to the late 1920s. At that time the new sports ground was called "ISPS", on behalf of the owner - the Regional Council of Trade Unions.
By 1930 at the stadium was created only one football field. In 1934, the rest of the infrastructure and tribunes entered service. By the end of the year, an international match was held at the new stadium for the first time. Participants were the team of the Central Black Earth region and football players of Germany. The game ended in a draw.
In 1935 the stadium of the trade unions (Voronezh) hosted the first football championship in the region. In 1936, the sports ground was renamed "Pishchevik", and in 1953 - in "Znamya." In the winter of 1958, it became known as Trud. And only in 1973 the sports complex was called the Central Stadium of Trade Unions. Since then, this name has not changed.
During the Great Patriotic War the stadiumtrade unions (Voronezh) was completely destroyed. And after the war it had to be restored for a long time. The first major repairs were completed before the matches of the season in 1954. Then the local football team "Wings of the Soviets" received a new arena. The stands were designed for 10 thousand fans.
In the period from 1962-1965. The capacity of the stadium was increased to 32,000 people. But the main reconstruction began in 1984. Fountains with water, bushes along the treadmills were cleaned and many more changes were made. The arena began to consist of two tiers, and the capacity of the stadium increased to 34,800 fans.
