Felix Sturm (real name - Adnan Chatich)was born in the German city of Leverkusen on January 31, 1979. Has a Bosnian origin. The height of the fighter is 181 centimeters, and the range of arms is 185 centimeters. To date, conducted 49 fights in the professional ring, in 40 of which he managed to win (18 wins by knockout).
Career in amateurs
The first serious fights of Felix Sturm onamateur ring fell on the period 1995-96, when he was able to become the champion of Germany in the junior division. In 1998-99 the boxer again won the championship of his native country, but already in the new weight category - a welterweight. The only silver award he had in 1997.
Participated in the world championship in 1999. In the first fight he managed to beat Ukrainian Turcan Andrey with the score 8: 3, however already in the next round he could not oppose the Kazakh to Ermakhan Ibrimov.
In 2000, Felix was able to win the European championship, where in the first battle he won the representative of Hungary Carol Balzhi.
In the same year 2000, Sturm became a participant in the Olympics. Participation in the main tournament of the world did not bring success to the German, because he was defeated at the hands of American Jermain Taylor.
Professional performances
The debut of the German in the profiling took place at the beginning2001. He started his performances in middleweight. Two years later, he was able to become a youth IBF World Champion. In the summer of 2003, Felix Sturm won the WBO Intercontinental World Title. And in September he managed to win a full WBO title in a fight with Argentinean Hector Javier Velasco. The victory was difficult and was awarded a separate judicial decision. Literally three months later, and the first defense of the belt in a duel with Ruben Varon, which was successful for the champion. However, in the summer of 2004, Sturm could not win in a fight with Oscar De La Hoya, and gave him the title of champion.
But this defeat did not stop the German, and hecontinued to train, because for him his biography was always important. Felix Sturm again enters the ring in the fall and wins in the fight with Robert Fraser the title of WBO intercontinental champion in the middle division. This title the German subsequently defended in fights with Bert Schenck and Jorge Sendra.
Another WBA champion belt Felix Sturmconquered in the spring of 2006, when he was able to defeat Marcelo Maso. However, in the summer of the same year, the German very unexpectedly lost the belt in a duel with Javier Castillejo. In April 2007, a rematch was held between the fighters, in which Sturm had already won and regained the title. This was followed by a successful series of belt defenses in the amount of seven fights, after which Felix took a pause for 14 months.
Returning to the ring also proved successful: Giovanni Lawrence was defeated. This victory allowed Felix to become the WBA super champion.
