IAAF - what is it?
To regulate coaches and athletes, conduct championships, establish common standards for all, rules, record achievements, keep records and propaganda, you need a central authority to manage all of this. In each country where there are sections on athletics, national federations are formed, which are part of a single federation called the International Athletics Association (IAAF).
After the end of the competition at the Olympics in 1912in Stockholm (Sweden) decided to hold a meeting to approve the universal universal rules of the competition for this sport. As a result, an amateurish international athletics federation was formed. IAAF - what is it?
Development of communications, increase in sportscash infusions, the race for records made it all the same to change one of the words without changing the abbreviation IAAF. So, in 2001 we got the name, which is preserved until the present days, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). What it is? How did the organization develop and who is at its helm?
History of development of the organization
At the first congress of amateur athleticsthere were only 17 countries, today there are more than two hundred. In Berlin in 1913 Congress approved the constitution of the organization, which already featured 34 national federations. The first president was Siegfried Edström from Sweden. The same country hosted the headquarters of the federation for the next 30 years. In 1914 in Lyon (France), where the third congress was held, the first international competition rules were announced, which all national organizations had to take to train their athletes in the international arena of world championships and the Olympics.
In 1946, the headquarters moved toEngland. At the next congress in Stuttgart (1993), it was decided to move the central office of the federation from the cold and rainy regions to the warmer and fancy places in Southern Europe (to attract sponsors). In the same year, the headquarters moved to the Principality of Monaco, where the United Nations, Interpol, OSCE, UNESCO, WHO and other international organizations are located. At the moment, the head of the IAAF is the outstanding runner of the century Sebastian Coe (Great Britain). A small margin of votes, Sergei Bubka twice did not get to the presidency. The advantage was given to Lord Koe because of more experience in political affairs.
IAAF composition
The IAAF Council consists of 21 members, a treasurer (for whose position was a Russian Valentin Balakhnichev), vice-presidents, first or honorary vice-president and the president of the federation.
In the organization's charter, 14 noblegoals. The sponsors are attracted, official partnership agreements have been signed with the companies Adidas, Toyota, Seiko, Kenon, TBC, the oil company Sinopek and VTB Bank (the latter terminated the contract due to a scandal with the Russian team).
In honor of the association's centennial on March 8, 2012 onCongress in Istanbul by President Lamin Diak (athlete, politician, father of 15 children) was opened by the IAAF Hall of Fame. Athletics received a new round of development.
How to become a member of the IAAF?
The criterion of entering the list of the best athletes of alltimes is the presence of 2 gold medals (Olympic or won at the world championships). Also must pass at least 10 years from the date of completion of a career. The outstanding sportsmen of the USSR, the stars of the world sport are Valery Brumel, Sergei Bubka, Vladimir Golubnichy, Natalia Lisovskaya, Janis Lusis, Viktor Saneev, Yury Sedykh, Tatyana Kazankina, Vladimir Kuts, Sergey Litvinov, Irina Press.
The organization develops andpromotes athletics, fair sports, the availability of sport for all categories, regardless of age, race, nationality, religious beliefs. Of course, this is very difficult at the present time.
Development of athletics today
Sport today is not harmless physicalexercise to maintain the health and activity of a person. This is a thirst for fame, fees, dirty intrigues of large corporations, bookmakers and media magnates. In support of this was the disqualification due to the alleged doping scandal of the entire Russian national team in track and field athletics.
The team was not allowed to the 2016 Olympics andsuspended from international competitions for two years. Now pharmacology has reached such a level that it is possible to disqualify every teenager who drinks energy drinks and fermented yoghurts, plus all grandmothers and colds who bought drugs containing anti-doping drugs banned. Sadly, politics has become superior to honest sports.
Any decision of the IAAF today is not accepted without the approval of organizations that are far from the sport. Many famous athletes have therefore completed their careers.
