New World (Crimea): attractions

If we talk about the time when the Crimea is alreadybelonged to the Russian Empire, these lands often passed from hand to hand. The first masters of the New World did not fully realize their happiness in owning such a paradise, so they did not stay there for long and did not develop the village. No sights of the New World (Crimea) have so far attracted a high society. Unless the first name of Paradise (in the translation of "paradise", "garden") the village owes the nobleman de Galere who received these lands as a gift from Empress Catherine II. But who really played a crucial role in the development of this resort, it's Prince Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn, who purchased this estate in 1878.

Wine-making - profile industry

This descendant of a noble princely family, who studiedproduction of wine in France, all his heart invested in a new possession. He decided to develop wine there, as the climate was more than favorable for this. He started with the fact that he planted European grape varieties on his land to watch the Crimean sun affect the quality of the wine. The prince built a factory, invested almost all his money in it.

To appreciate their taste, ordinary workers could also appreciate (the prince sold wine at very affordable prices), and the world public (golitsynskie wines participated in the Paris World Exhibition in 1900).

Victory at the exhibition

It is there that Champagne brand "Coronation"the 1899 issue received the Grand Prix. In this regard, we can not fail to mention the funny misunderstanding that took place at the gala dinner in honor of the completion of the exhibition. As always, the competitors were treated to wine, which received the main awards. Chairman of the tasting commission Count Chandon, raising a toast to the winner, was sure that it was his wine, and so loudly gave glory to his winemakers. And in fact, he was holding a glass of champagne "Coronation", and Golitsyn at all thanked him for the free advertising of his production. It was thanks to this drink that other sights of the New World (Crimea) became known.

Emperor Nicholas II, resting at the princeGolitsyna, tasted the champagne of his making. They say that he said the phrase: "Now I see life in a new light," and this name was fixed for the village. Is this so hard to say.

The plant in today's time

After a 30-year period of stagnation (1906-1936), the plantresumed its activities and in 1936 gave the world "Soviet champagne", recognized even by the French, which is still produced. Since it is not made by bottling, but by a tank method, the same French do not need to replace the word "champagne" (that is, produced in the province of Champagne) with "sparkling" in the name.

And recently (in 1997), the Novorossiysk plant repeated the success of Golitsyn's wines at the Paris exhibition - again the Grand Prix. Now 10 types of sparkling wines are produced here.
