History of station name

As has been repeatedly noted, the metro"Pechatniki" (Moscow) owes its name to the homonymous district, in whose territory it, in fact, is located. In turn, the history of the latter is closely intertwined with the history of the Nikolo-Perervinsky Monastery, which was founded in 1380-1381. Today in official documents you can find two variants of the name of this area - Pechatnikovo and Pechatniki. According to the first version, the name of the district came from the name of a certain Vladimir Pechatnikov, a serviceman killed in the Livonian campaign. Mention of it occurs in the annals of 1558. According to another version, in the eighteenth century in the village, which was located exactly in this very place, a large number of cloths were painted. To accelerate the process, residents used a special wooden form with a previously cut relief pattern, which was then painted with different colors. Covering the calico with colorful colored patterns, the masters seem to have "printed". Subsequently, the whole area began to be called Pechatniki. As you can see, the versions are very different, but the essence of this does not change.
