"Red stick" (so literally translatedname of the settlement) is a city in the USA, which is located in the south in Louisiana. Its number is about 228 thousand inhabitants, and also it is the capital of this state. Half of the population - African American, whites about 30%, Asians and Hispanics - no more than 2%. Unfortunately, the city has a high crime rate.

In the distant past, the modern territory of the citybelonged to two Indian tribes: Houma and Bayugula, the boundaries of their possessions were shared by a river. It still flows through this settlement. When the French arrived here in the 17th century, they violated the peaceful way of life, wars and a "black" period began in the history of the city. Only in the first half of the XIX century the situation was somewhat stabilized, and this territory was transferred to the jurisdiction of the United States.
