Location and characteristics of the waterway
The right tributary of the Yenisei River is the Mana River, which originatesin the ridges of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the Mansky and Kuturchinsky white mountains. It carries its waters from Lake Mansky along the northern slope of the Eastern Sayan, mostly in the direction of the northwest, crossing the massifs of the taiga and flowing into the Yenisei 30 km upstream of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the capital of the region. Its total length is 475 km, and the speed of the current varies from 7-8 km / h in the upper reaches of the river to 4 km / h - in its lower reaches. The Mana River takes in its basin more than 300 tributaries of various sizes. The largest of them - Mina, Krol, Kolba, Zherzhul, Beret, Urman. In the mountain part for almost a kilometer the river flows under the ground. The upper part is rather meandering and rapids, the lower reaches are suitable for navigation.
Natural conditions
The Mana River flows through a large areakarst rocks characterized by good solubility. Its upper reaches are fed mainly by snow and rainwater, downstream the saturation of the purest cold (up to 10 degrees Celsius) water rich in minerals (hydrocarbonate) is of greater importance. Such numerous springs with natural drinking water are enriched in the entire basin.
The beaches are rich in vegetation, similar to forests,surrounding the city of Krasnoyarsk. The Mana River will please fans of coniferous air - on the coastal territory you can see and pine, and larch, and cedar, and spruce, and fir. Of the deciduous trees there are often birch, aspen, willow, mountain ash and bird cherry. The waters of the river are rich in taimen, sterlet, lennock, pike, grayling, burbot, perch, ruff, roach, dace, loach, gudgeon, minnow and round goby.
Near the mouth (20 - 40 km) on the right bank is the border of the natural reserve "Stolby".

The Mana River is known for a very interesting natural formation, subject to protection, located on the north-western spurs of the Eastern Sayan on the right bank in its lower reaches.
This reserve is known all over the world, thanks toFour rocky ridges with inaccessible walls - Mansky Pillars, related to syenith rocks-remains. Millions of years, the wind and rain rocked the stone, creating picturesque sculptures that resemble huge (up to 100 meters tall) beasts, fabulous grottoes and through arches. Many rocks in this state reserve have their names - Berkut, Feathers, Griffins, Grandfather and the like.
Tourism
The most part of fans of productive leisurecomes here for rafting on the river. From May to September, numerous thresholds of different levels of complexity attract crowds of extreme tourists. The whole basin lies within the mountainous terrain, which makes the streams of rapids swell and creates an abundance of waterfalls, narrow valleys are characterized by steep slopes, the water surface is full of islets, rich in sharp turns, the bottom is strewn with underwater rocks, ruts and shoals, shivers are found. The upper reaches have two thresholds related to the 3-4 categories of difficulty - Sable ("Trumpet") and Greater Mansky, on which the local water slalom championship takes place every year. On sporting vessels, it is possible to float only from the Yuliavskoye mine, while the lower reaches are available for small waterborne traffic.
Adherents of a more peaceful pastimethe Mana River offers a rest offer - you can make a walk, buy, fish, sleep around the fire, for which hundreds of townsfolk flock to the rocky Isthmus of Perekop for a weekend.
Man-Made History Monument
Another point of interest, evidencingabout the heroic labor past in difficult war years - a winding section of the railway called the "highway of courage", laid in the hard 1942, after which the work of some of its construction developers was equated with a feat on the front line.
The track has a complex trajectory - it crosses the river three times, spreading highly the reinforced concrete arches of railway bridges and entering the Mansky tunnel, which has the longest length on the Abakan-Taishet branch.
