The heretic is not a dissident, but a benefactor!
Christianity claims that a heretic isa person whose views, opinions and statements differ from the dogmas of the church. Today, unlike the Middle Ages, he will not be burned at the stake for this and will not be exposed to exposing tortures. However, in the Middle Ages, everything was different! About this and talk.
Branded for life
In the Middle Ages, people's consciousness was very meager. They willingly believed in witches, dragons, sorcerers and other evil spirits. Science was not as developed as it is today. The medieval church with its views and ideas was much different from today. Everyone who had his own view of the structure of this world, and also was in some ways disagree with the priests of the Middle Ages, unwittingly received the brand "heretic". And nobody worried about what social status he was endowed with: a grandee, a genius, a scientist, a healer or a clairvoyant!
The clergymen, hiding behind their position, constantly referring to the fact that only their interpretation of the Holy Scripture, only their opinions on this matter - the only true and correct! Covering themselves with Lord God and the "Holy Inquisition", these people destroyed a huge number of those who disagree with them. After all, in the Middle Ages there was a harsh rule that a heretic is almost always sentenced to be executed! The label of the heretic in the vast majority of cases meant burning at the stake or hanging on the gallows of the Inquisition. Remember how many geniuses were then burned at the stake!
Why tortured heretics?
If the inquisitors came to the general opinion thatthreats, persuasion and cunning do not work on the accused, then we had to resort to violence. It was believed that physical torture and torture more clearly educate the mind of the dissenter. At that time there was a whole list of tortures, legalized by the Inquisition.
The heretic is our benefactor!
Yes ... It was a terrible time ... The time of eternal hunting for dissenters and witches! However, despite all adversity, it is the heretic that is the "engine" of medieval progress! Imagine if they were not, how would our world be today? Yes, we would still go on wooden rattling carts, harnessed by horses, candles in candelabra would still be burning in our houses, and we would write with goose feathers on parchment! Horrible! It is heretics, we - modern people - are indebted to all the existing blessings of civilization!
