Children With Children
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorderchildren - such a long and complex formulation is used in the section of psychology (child pathopsychology). It means that the child exhibits a characteristic motor anxiety, as well as the inability to longly focus his attention on any object or occupation.
According to psychologists, there are no single parameters forwhich could be assessed by living and restless children, determining whether they suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Most of these diagnoses are made if the small patient regularly displays some symptoms, called symptoms of hyperactivity, and for more than six months. It is compulsory at the same time to examine the child, collect information about his life in the family, communicate with the doctor's parents and educators.
Symptoms of ADHD in children are: constant presence in motion, causeless fuss and fidgeting, inattention (especially when the child is being treated). Sometimes the disease manifests itself in the fact that children do not know how and do not want to play quietly, talk and interrupt many other speakers, and are also able to easily and permanently be distracted from their studies or not at all to bring them to the end.
If your child behaves this way -perhaps it should be shown to a specialist who will determine the presence or absence of ADHD. However, one does not need to hurry, because there can be completely different reasons for overactive, nervous and restless behavior of children. For example, a dramatic change in the way of life, consisting in moving to another city, divorcing parents or killing anyone from the environment of the child; a constant sense of anxiety and depression; certain medical disorders capable of affecting the work of the child's brain.
To understand the problem can only a doctor,which, using the method developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, will diagnose. Instructions of the Academy are aimed at children 6-12, since, unfortunately, it is very difficult to determine the presence of attention deficit and hyperactivity in preschool children, as well as in adolescents. During these periods of life, it is common for a person to manifest certain symptoms of the disease, but often they are caused by completely different causes.
According to some signs, ADHD can be classified into several types:
- combined, in which there are threethe main signs of the disease - inattention, impulsiveness and hyperactivity. This type is the most common, since its symptoms are fairly easy to notice in a child;
- hyperactive-impulsive, in which small patients can focus on specific tasks or objects, and at other times are both hyperactive and impulsive;
- Inattentive, which is more often calledattention deficit disorder. Such children are completely inactive, but sometimes they can not concentrate on the task. In this type of disease, there are no signs that are sufficiently pronounced, so children often remain without the doctor's attention.
Separately, it is necessary to say about the treatment of ADHD. Do not think that it is only in the process of training or raising a child in the family. Of course, all these factors play an important role, so in the treatment should be given considerable attention to special educational programs. However, the best results still give the use of medications. In general, doctors recommend combining two types of therapy - medical and psychological, proving that this is the optimal solution, not only to combat attention deficit disorder, impulsivity and hyperactivity syndrome, but also for the future successful adaptation of a child diagnosed with ADHD in society.
