At the end of the twentieth century, Russianlaw enforcement agencies and special army units showed an increased interest in such seemingly already forgotten small automatic weapons, as PP (submachine gun). In the 90s, these models began to be developed by employees of design bureaus in Izhevsk, Tula and Kovrov. Soon, several such samples were presented to the attention of the Russian army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. History

In the 1990s, the three Russian armies - Tula,Izhevsk and Kovrov - from the FSB and the Interior Ministry received an assignment to produce for their employees a personal firearm. At the same time, emphasis was placed on the fact that the size of the new models did not exceed the pistols, but they had a high rate of fire and firepower. By 1994, the employees of the Tula bureau assembled the OC-2 "Cypress", in Izhevsk the PP-91 "Kedr" was constructed, and in Kovrov at the mechanical plant under the leadership of the designer Pavel Sedov the AEK-919K "Kashtan" submachine gun shooting cartridges caliber 9x18 mm.

The basis for the Russian PP

Since 1940, the design work for theThis type of weapon was not conducted, the USSR did not receive any model of a submachine gun. As a result, gunsmiths who received an assignment from the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to create a domestic PP, had to use foreign analogues in their work. Thus, developing the AEK-919K "Kashtan" submachine gun, the Russian weapon designers used Steyr MPi-69 of Austrian production.

Initially, a small batch was producedRussian PP. After the testing of the weapon, shortcomings were found in it. Their correction entailed significant design changes. As a result, a completely new model of automatic small arms was created, which today is known as the pistol-machine gun "Kashtan".

Purpose

The pistol-machine gun "Kashtan" was used inas auxiliary weapons by the FSB, the Ministry of Justice, special forces of law enforcement agencies and FSO. Also, this aircraft model was armed with crews of aircraft, combat vehicles and army special forces of Russia.

Device

The pistol-machine gun "Kashtan" has an originala design copied from a foreign analog. In the marching state, the gun is a small metal box, unlike a weapon. The design consists of a stamped receiver, equipped with two incision fields that are used as fore-end. On the cover are installed flies and pillars. Its left part has become a place for the arrangement of the three-position safety fuse. The application is retractable, containing a turntable, which, if necessary, easily hides in the receiver.

How does the fuse work?

The design of the shock-trigger mechanism allowscarry out single and automatic shooting. To change the fire mode, a special flag translator is provided, which is equipped with a PC "Kashtan". A 9 mm submachine gun fires single shot if the interpreter is turned clockwise to the stop. If it is moved all the way to the stop in the opposite direction, the submachine gun will stand on the fuse. How does the shot happen?

Automatics of weapons use the recoil of freeshutter. In order to reduce the size of the submachine gun, the Carpet designers used a shutter circuit that pushed the barrel and covered it from all sides. Before the shot, the bolt must be in the cocked position. To do this, it is fixed on the rear whip of the shock-trigger mechanism.

After the trigger is pressedhook, the shutter with the sear is broken, and it begins to push forward the return spring. During its movement, the bolt from the magazine captures the ammunition and sends it to the barrel chamber. The shot is carried out after the cartridge hammer is broken by the drummer. Dispersal of the bullet in the barrel is carried out due to the formed propellant gases. They press on the bottom of the cartridge case, as a result of which the shutter stops and its movement in the opposite direction. During his rollback, he retrieves the shot sleeve. Having clamped the return spring, the bolt is back installed behind the sear. The cycle repeats again each time the trigger is pressed.

The extraction of fired shells outwards is carried out byspring-loaded ejector. On the damper from the bottom of the guide spring there is a rod reflector, which also takes part in the extraction of the fired shells from the chamber. Sights

PP "Kashtan" is able to hit the enemy's living force at a distance of one hundred meters. Especially for these purposes, the weapon is equipped with sighting devices: a full-fledged one and an adjustable fly.

In addition to the submachine gun, you canInstall a laser pointer / collimator sight. Since this model of weapons is intended for special tasks by special forces, tactical PMS silencers (low-noise shooting devices) are often installed on the SS "Kashtan".

For this, the front parts of the pistols of the "Kashtan" pistols are equipped with special couplings.

• Weight PP (with a magazine without cartridges) to 1.8 kg.

Combat application

AEK-919 submachine guns to "Kashtan" inThe number of 100 units was first used by special divisions of the Russian FSB in 1995 when the constitutional order was restored in Chechnya (the first Chechen campaign). In 2002, the PI entered service with the crew of the Ka-50 "Black Shark" (attack helicopter), carrying out their tasks in Chechnya and Dagestan.

Models

On the basis of the pistol-machine gun "Kashtan" were created three modifications:

• AEK-919. Unlike its analog, this model has a long length and weight. In addition, the receiver in the upper part has a square cross-section, while in the base PC the corners of the box are rounded.
• AEK-918. This is the development of the year 2000. Unlike the analogue, this model is designed for firing cartridges caliber 9x19mm.
• AEK-918v. This submachine gun is considered a prototype for the 9x19 Parabellum ammunition.

Conclusion
