Silent computer

A noiseless computer is a PC that, when workingproduces little or no noise at all. Such PCs are used, as a rule, for editing audio and video, as well as as music centers. Sources of noise can be fans (aerodynamic noise, or noise of bearings), hard drives, processors and optical drives.

How to make a computer quiet?

1. Fans. Mounting should be on vibration absorbing washers or washers. This will reduce the transfer to the body of unnecessary vibration. Also reduce the noise of the fan helps to reduce the mounting. This is a fairly effective, simple and cheap way. On the connectors of some designs, this is created by installing resistors in loose contacts. On modern boards there is the possibility of changing the speed of the fan. But to slow down his work is only if there is appropriate experience. In this case, it is necessary to closely monitor the temperature of many nodes: chipset chips, hard disk, field-effect transistors, which are located near the processor.

Reduce the fan speed inIf the PC does not need the maximum performance. Speed control can be performed manually or with the help of special devices. The main disadvantage of most fan speed control systems is the lack of a complete shutdown function when the temperature does not exceed the permissible level.

2. Power supply. To make a noiseless computer, you'll have to work on the power supply as well. The sound that it produces is affected by several factors. This controller, fan, airflow resistance and area heat exchangers. There are several ways to reduce noise:
- the use of quiet fans;
- installation of power supply without fans (these units have a high efficiency and lower power);
- Providing access to the chilled air to the power supply.

3. The processor. The noise level can be significantly reduced by using a cooling module without fans. Copper processors are especially good at dissipating heat. In addition to the material, the radiator area also matters. Larger modules tend to have higher efficiency.

4. Hard drives. Reduce the noise and vibration of special silicone washers for fastening. Silent drives have a noise level of up to 26 dB. A good solution is to use SSDs. They have lower power consumption, high speed of access and reliability. Also, they have no moving parts. Minus is a high price and inaccessibility. In addition, they have a limit on the number of calls to each data field.

5. The system unit. The inner part of its body must be lined with material that absorbs sound. It can be a foam or a special fiber. This method offers the following advantages:
- due to the increase in the weight of the case, the amplitude of vibration decreases;
- noise generated by air currents is absorbed;
- vibration is softened.

Some cases initially have such noise insulation. Also sold special mats, which you can finish any block.

6. The cooling system (noiseless cooler) should not impede the flow of air. To make a noiseless computer, wire or cellular gratings are used, since they are much better than stamped ones. In addition, such cases are initially supplied with quiet power sources and fans.

As you can see, it's realistic to make a noiseless computer. To achieve this goal, the improvement of aerodynamic properties, as well as the necessary manipulations with the motherboard (the "north bridge") can help. It is necessary to remove dust and dirt in time.
