Korbain is known as a photo artist, clipmaker and director. His career has always been closely connected with the world of rock music. The arrival of the Dutch director in a large cinematography was marked by a noisy success. The number of films, in the creation of which Anton Corbain participated, can be counted on the fingers of one hand. However, each of his paintings became an event in the world of cinema and attracted the attention of the public.

Early biography

Anton Corbijn was born in the Netherlands in 1955. In Dutch pronunciation the name of the director sounds like Corbein. The future world-famous master of visual images spent his childhood in the island city of Streien. His only entertainment in a quiet provincial settlement was reading music magazines. This predetermined the sphere of interests of Corbijn.

After the head of the family, Protestantpriest, was appointed to the post of pastor in the parish of the Reformed Church in the city of Groningen, the boy had the opportunity to attend performances of various musical groups. Anton Corbijn took with him to the concerts a camera. This was his first experience of scenic shooting. Soon the work of a novice photographer was interested in one of the music magazines. Anton Corbijn moved to London and completely immersed himself in the world of cult rock bands. He sought to convey to the audience through the camera lens an incredible atmosphere of their life and creativity. Anton Corbijn and his pictures became an integral part of the rock culture.

Working in a movie

For the first time, the artist tried his hand atas a director in the early 80's. He took part in creating a music video for the German rock band Palais Schaumburg. Subsequently, the direction of the clips became the main creative activity of Corbijn. The next stage of career development was the work on a short documentary film about the popular American musician-experimentalist Don Van Vliet.

The biographical drama about the bright and short life of singer and musician Ian Curtis was named one of the best British films of the last time.

The filmography of the Dutch master was supplemented with a high-budget picture, the main role in which was performed by the famous and charismatic actor George Clooney. Punk-band confidently won popularity, but Curtis paid a very high price for fast success. He suffered from depression and epileptic seizures. Concerts, which demanded complete return of mental and physical strength, gradually killed the singer. In addition, Curtis torn internal contradictions related to personal life. The rock idol was tormented by guilt over his wife, which was caused by his relationship with another woman. Failing to find a way out of the situation, Ian Curtis committed suicide at the age of 23.
