In fact, Anna and Serge Golon are creativethe pseudonym of a married couple. Simon Shangyo and Vsevolod Golubinov met in the 40s in the French Congo, where they worked together. Their romance quickly grew into a deep feeling, and the lovers got married.

Vsevolod Sergeevich emigrated from Russia, whenthe Civil War began. He wholeheartedly wished to join the White Army, but failed. In 1920 he settled in France. His father was the royal consul in Iran.

Vsevolod Golubinov was always a creative person, engaged in painting, wrote notes.

Simona Shangyo was born in the familyFrench seaman. From an early age, the girl dreamed of becoming an artist or a writer. From the age of eighteen she began to publish books under the pseudonym Joëlle Duntern. After the marriage, Simon together with Vsevolod Golubinov settled in Versailles.

The history of the creation of novels

After returning from Africa, Golubinov could notfind a job in France. In the postwar period, life was rather difficult. In addition, their first child was born. Together, the couple released a book of memories of Africa, but it was not a success.

A little later, Simone came up with the idea ofwriting an adventurous historical novel. Golubin spent his days and nights in the Versailles library, Simone invented heroes, plot and plot lines. She wanted the main character to be a fragile, but at the same time incredibly strong woman. So in the writer's head appeared green-eyed blonde Angelica. Anna and Serge Golon took up the job with renewed zeal. And I must say, not unsuccessfully. The work has made a success and is still popular.

In the novels there are real historicalpersonality (Louis Fifteenth, Prince Conde) along with fictional characters (Geoffrey de Peyrak, Angelica). All books in the order of writing date from 1956 to 1985. The series consists of thirteen books. The last four Simon (Anne Golon) added one, because her husband died of a stroke in 1972.

Conventionally, a series of novels can be divided into two parts: the action of the first six books takes place in Europe (the Old World) and partly in Berberia, and the rest in the New World (forts of America and Canada).

"Angelica in the Old World"

Angelica - the daughter of an impoverished nobleman, Baron deSão de Montelu. At seventeen, a girl, though not of her own free will, marries Count de Peyrac, a wealthy Toulouse nobleman who is envious of the king himself.

The Count falls in love with Angelica at first sight, butthe girl is afraid of her lame and disfigured husband. But then love in her heart defeats fear, and it turns out that Geoffrey de Peyrac is the passion of her whole life.

Everything changes when a happy married couplearrives in Paris. Geoffrey is accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. All his fortune goes to the royal treasury, and Angelica, to save her life, has to wander for a long time in the street. The noble lady knew poverty, cold and hunger, she visited the very bottom of Paris. But, being a strong nature, does not despair and finds an outlet. After marrying the royal pet, Marshal of France Philippe du Plessis-Belle, she again conquers Versailles.

The life of Angelica is full of joys and sorrows,and falls. From a luxurious lady's court she instantly turns into a concubine of the Sultan, repeatedly loses her husband and thinks that her youngest son died in the ocean. But life presents her with a surprise for the surprise.

The old light became a symbol of pain for a woman andsorrows, and she trusts her life and the lives of her friends with the formidable pirate Reskator who is ready to take them to new lands. The reader does not even guess what turn of fate awaits the main character soon. And what choice will Angelica have to make.
