The Mayan prophecy is a fiction or an inescapable reality?

In recent years, more and more people are discussing the Mayan prophecy concerning, in the opinion of some experts, the end of the world. Why prepare for people in the near future?

A special piquancy of this whole story is attached, that the planet Earth has, at least once, experienced a catastrophe of a planetary scale. It was in the area of the Mayan Indian tribe, near the Yucatan Peninsula, that an asteroid fell 60 million years ago, which made possible the end of the world for dinosaurs that lived on the earth for millions of years.

Specialists who studied the Mayan calendar, argue that for us, "the end of the world" will be held on 21.12.2012. Comparing the calendar of this tribe with our system of chronology, scientists recounted it and made a series of ambiguous conclusions. In their opinion, the Mayan prophecy concerns the grandiose events that will occur on our planet in the near future. The Maya believed that the universe exists in great solar cycles. Their priests believed that from the time of the creation of man passed 4 Suns (cycle). Now mankind lives in the 5 solar cycle. The first 4 Suns were destroyed by different elements (earthquakes, winds and cyclones, volcanic eruptions, giant floods). Each of the cycles lasted from 4 to 5 thousand years.

The fifth Sun, according to the Mayan idea, will disappear inresult of movement or shift of the Earth. We know that even a slight shift of the Earth's axis can lead to irreparable consequences, and now scientists say that the axis is gradually but steadily shifting, especially under the influence of recent earthquakes. Perhaps the Mayan prophecy is about this particular problem.

According to the decoding of the ancient calendar 21.12.2012 the cycle of the Fifth Sun ends and the end of the world comes. Strictly speaking, this conclusion is alarming because the Maya Indians were always considered excellent astronomers who know many secrets of the universe, and in 2012 their calendar ends. Until now, archaeologists have not discovered any other artifacts in which the further Mayan calendar continued.

No one knows for certain why the Maya createdsuch calendar and where the dates indicated in them come from. According to modern astronomers, during the winter solstice this year the Sun will be in the zone of the Milky Way galaxy. Of course, it is absolutely incomprehensible how the representatives of ancient civilization so accurately could calculate a certain date in the distant future. However, do not despair. The Mayan prophecy may concern a cardinal renewal of the world or a new rebirth of all things. It is unclear what event will have a global impact on the course of history. Some scholars are inclined to the view that after this date the Era of spiritual insight will begin. Others make a more pessimistic forecast. They assume that for humanity and all living beings, and perhaps for the Earth, there will literally be a physical end.

Although throughout the history of existencea man was predicted and expected hundreds of "ends of the world", this latest Mayan prediction strains everyone especially strongly. And the reason for this is not only in the Mayan prophecy and their calendar, but also in the increasingly frequent global natural disasters. The political situation in a number of different countries, especially exacerbated in recent times, is not conducive to optimism. Even the most convinced optimists can not fail to realize that humanity is threatened by several threats of a planetary scale: geological catastrophes, a nuclear threat, a fall of the celestial body. Nobody knows where and when the next catastrophe will happen, and no one will ever be able to prevent them (with the exception of preventing nuclear war). Therefore, it is hardly correct to assert that on 21.12.2012, "the end of the world" will take place, as natural disasters and displacement of the Earth's axis will continue to occur.

In our power only to accept the inevitable, and inthe same time try to change and correct what we really can. Do not sit and wait for the disaster, since no one (even the Mayan geniuses) could and will not be able to predict the future of the whole Earth and humanity with an accuracy of 1 day. The very concept of "the end of the world" can be "stretched" in time not only for days, months, years, but for ages.
