Is it possible to imagine a good garden without beets? This vegetable must certainly be present on every bed.

And not only because of its unpretentiousness andpleasant sweet taste, but also because of the incredible benefits hidden in this root crop. It is interesting that initially only beet tops were used for food, and the roots were used for medicinal purposes. Wise ancestors already knew then that the tops are many times superior in their useful properties of the roots. In spite of this, root crops were more popular with Europeans than greens, and now many dishes can not do without this vegetable.

But back to our garden. Why not talk about growing beets,

whose landing and departure differ in theirsimplicity, unlike other vegetables, for example, cabbage. Let's start with the main thing. Planting of carrots and beets together with other vegetables begins in the early spring. As soon as the earth warms up a bit, you can start to prepare the garden. Planting beet seedlings does not make sense - the sprouts are very poorly adopted and are ill for a long time, although subsequently they catch up with the seed plants. However, it is worth noting that many gardeners initially densely plant beet seeds, and subsequently remove too often sprouting sprouts. They will just play the role of seedlings.

Some root crops can be planted during the winter. These include beets, planting and caring for which at this time is even easier. The main thing is to drop it in time before frost and thicken with a thick layer of straw, sawdust or grass.

Before sowing seeds, they are usually soaked in warmwater, wrapped with a cotton cloth. It is necessary to leave them in this form for several days, and then for a couple of hours to lower them into a weak solution of manganese for disinfection and better seed germination.

Plant beetroot as well as radishes, at a distance of 7-10 cm. Before sowing, make shallow grooves, put humus in them, water if the soil is not very wet, and lower the seed to a depth of 1.5-2 cm.

True, this vegetable still loves loose soil, so that when hard ground, the planting area needs to be treated with a flat cutter. The beet will not give up and from feeding with a weak solution of chicken or cow manure.

Good predecessors for red vegetables are tomato, cucumber, potatoes, onions. But after planting carrots, cabbage and chard, beets will not please you with a good harvest.

Most vegetable crops love sunlightand grow poorly in the shade. The exception is not beet. Planting and caring for a good bright spot significantly affect the size of root crops. In the shade, the beets do not grow at all.
