Underwater lights with their own hands
Every hunter knows for sure - the betterequipment, the better will be the result of hunting. Plunging into the water, which is often turbid, the hunter must carry a lantern, the light of which can penetrate the water column. There are many factors that make it difficult to hunt underwater, for example algae and night time. However, not everyone, especially a beginner, a hunter can afford to buy expensive equipment. But you can make a lantern with your own hands.
What are underwater lights?
First we will consider what can belanterns for spearfishing. They are divided into several types: battery-powered, on batteries that do not recharge (plus - they work longer than battery ones, minus-light will fade as the discharge goes down), xenon, LED and halogen. To possess a underwater lantern for spearfishing should be the following qualities - to be waterproof (which is the most important factor), to have a strong body and structure (under water there is increased pressure, so the body must be either metallic or of impact-resistant plastic), well, and of course , be ergonomic (it is very important in conditions of poor visibility to fully rely on sensations - for this purpose the flashlight should be conveniently placed in the palm of your hand).
Lantern with own hands
How can you make a diving lantern with your own hands? In principle, this is not so difficult, even more - it's interesting and exciting. It will be a simple lantern, powered by a built-in battery. The peculiarity of our model will be that it will be able to float independently, without support, with the holder up. In this case, the light of the lantern will be directed downward, which will allow you to see everything that is happening around the hunter. So, first determine what we need to work. For a self-made product you need: an uninterrupted battery (an important role is played by dimensions - 90x65x150), a sleeve for pipes 150 mm in length and 110 mm in diameter, a plastic plug, an adapter (from 110 to 50 mm), halogen soffit with a diameter of 50 mm, a wooden handle from the door, polystyrene, silicone sealant.
Getting Started
The first step is to improve slightlyclutch - the battery is almost the same with it in size, you need to place it neatly. It is necessary to insert the spotlight into the adapter tube. To ensure that the underwater lamp for diving is not drowned, it is necessary to glue a circle of foam on the plug - it is important to strictly maintain a thickness of 2.5 cm. Prepared parts of the lantern must be glued together so that water does not get inside, it is necessary to use silicone sealant, having smeared the cracks from the inside. The handle, which must necessarily be wooden, so that the self-made underwater light fits well afloat, is attached using an insulating tape (the fasteners can be different). From the body you need to remove the wires, which will replace the switching system by simple closing.
What are the advantages of this model
Underwater lights made in this way havea lot of advantages. The main one is a small weight, which does not allow the hands to get tired with long use. The second obvious abundance is the small cost of all purchased parts. Its positive role is played also by the horizontal position of the handle - the lantern thus looks as if slightly downward, directing light at an angle to the bottom, it is almost impossible to notice it from the shore. Again, the lack of an inclusion system, which can fail at any, most undesirable moment. All parts are easily replaceable, and you can find them in any technical store. The life of a similar underwater lantern is long enough - if you protect it from accidental shocks and falls, such a lantern will serve faithfully for a long time.
LED Flashlight
Underwater lights are not only onbatteries, as mentioned above. LED model is good in that it consumes a small amount of energy, and also has a high luminosity. To make such a lantern is also not very difficult. To work, you need a matrix consisting of eighteen ultra-bright LEDs, a controller, 4 Ni-Mh battery, module EK-Light 18. A stainless steel sheet is made of a housing, and a blank - the front part and nuts, with which the glass will be fixed. Plexiglas, thickness of eight millimeters, is first planted on the sealant, and then additionally tightened with nuts. The LED matrix can also be made independently - a layout is drawn on paper, then transferred to an aluminum plate. In the intended places holes are drilled (250 LEDs are needed - 10 groups of 25 pieces). The reed switch and the power pole driver replace the power button, the battery is used for power supply, which is enough for seven hours. The underwater light for hunting is ready.
What else do you need to know?
So, we know how to make a underwater lamp. What you need to know about them yet? Rechargeable flashlights must be discharged to the end before charging again. An undercharged underwater lantern for hunting with an incorrect charge will lose its energy capacity. The exception is lithium batteries, but they are very expensive. Going far from civilization, it is necessary to stock up the adapter, through which it will be possible to connect the flashlight to the cigarette lighter of the car. The longest is the LED flashlight - it does not emit as much heat as halogen or xenon. Accumulators of cadmium and nickel are considered excellent in their characteristics - they are distinguished by a long cycle of charging and discharging.
What qualities are still important for underwater lights
In addition to all of the above, underwater lightsmust have a few other binding qualities. They must have a reliable fastening, which will not fail if a serious battle with the caught fish takes place under the water. The best fit is a "crab" type - repeatedly tested not only in underwater hunting, but also other types of hobbies.
The type of light emitters should be qualitative, andthe power of the light flux, selected individually for each hunter, must be sufficiently productive. Cold LED light will give more brightness, and a warm shade will help to better examine the contours of objects. Much attention should be paid to optics - blurred glass will not give the desired result. So, creating a underwater lantern, it is worth taking with all responsibility to each stage - a small oversight or inaccuracy can affect the entire work of the lamp as a whole. Also, once again, you can focus on the cost - a lamp bought in the store will cost at least seven thousand. While a flashlight made by oneself will require at least seven times less costs. It's hard to argue that with high-quality equipment, underwater hunting will be just a joy, and a favorite occupation will bring no big victory in underwater battles.
