18 June. St. Constantine, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia

The saint Constantine was from the family of the Greeks. In 1155, the Patriarch of Constantinople ordained him to the episcopal order to take the metropolitan chair in Kiev. Two years later, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky died, after which the confrontation began. In the course of this struggle, Metropolitan Constantine was removed from the occupied department, and he retired to Chernigov, where he was received by Bishop Anthony. Having lived there for two years, St. Constantine died. His memory and the name day of Constantine are celebrated on June 18.

As a result, he retires to the monastery and takes tonsure, and a few years later he returns to the capital as an hegumen of one of the monasteries. In 1959, he was elected to the liberated patriarchal throne, which he occupies until his death in 1063. In the Orthodox Church he is regarded as a saint. This emperor of the Roman Empire put an end topersecuted Christians in the empire and, moreover, proclaimed Christianity as the state religion. He was born in 280 in Haiss, which is located in the territory of modern Serbia. His father was a military leader. His future head of the empire spent his youth at the court of Emperor Diocletian in Nicomedia. When the young man was 25 years old, the emperor denied his throne, as a result of which the father of Constantine became ruler of the western part of the empire. A year later he died and Constantine ascended the throne. By 312 he had won a decisive victory over his political rivals and established his authority in the western part of the empire. By his authority, he legalized until then the forbidden and oppressed Christian teaching and encouraged its dissemination. In 324, Constantine defeated the emperor of the eastern part of the Empire Licinius and became the sole ruler. In 337, he contracted pneumonia and went to Nicomedia, where he died on May 22 of the same year. On this day, according to the church calendar, his memory is celebrated, as well as the day of the angel of Constantine. The date of celebration in the civil calendar falls on 3 June.

This saint came from a Jewish family,who lived in the city of Sinad. In Christianity, he passed in his youth, leaving his father's house in a monastery, where he was baptized, and then monasticism. The Church honors him as a saint, celebrating annually the memory of January 8. On this day celebrate the birthday of Constantine baptized men in his honor.

3 June. Murom Prince Konstantin
