Cast Iron Technology
At complication of technologies of metal workingthere are new alloys for structures, and many directions in the metallurgical sphere cease to be relevant. However, materials that have stood the test of time and remained indispensable due to their qualities are still actively used in different industries.
Casting of cast iron is still one of the maindirections in the work of most of the metallurgical companies. The reason lies in the fact that products from this material are characterized by high demand. Such products are characterized by a long service life, as well as strength.
Cast Iron Technology
The production process has not changed much over time. Casting of cast iron is the production of cast iron castings according to certain drawings, in which their parameters are set.
The execution process is dependent ontechnology, which is applied in a particular enterprise. At the same time, on the whole, it assumes that the alloy in liquid form is fed into special forms. After cooling of the cast iron and its transition to a solid state, it can be cut and extracted from the mold, and then subjected to further operations. In the production of cast iron castings it is assumed that further machining of the products will be performed.
Companies that specialize incertain methods of casting of cast iron, produce an extensive range of spare parts for various industrial sectors. Areas of use and indicators of cast iron castings depend on the brand of this material.
Production
In the industrial sphere, namely in productionmachines and machines, water disposal and supply systems, the demand for parts made of cast iron, called "gray", is high. The reason for this lies in the fact that such material is durable and wear-resistant. These properties are provided by the fact that graphite is added to the alloy.
Various industrial companies apply for suchservice, as the casting of products made of cast iron to order. Despite the fact that there are differences in the requirements for the technological process, which are explained by the specific features of the activities of individual customers, there is a general requirement. It consists in the fact that the manufacture of cast iron castings must comply with the characteristics of the parts, which are indicated in the drawings and documents.
Methods
Casting of cast iron in cold-hardening mixtures isone of the modern technologies. This solution assumes that the molds are made from a mixture that incorporates binding elements, for example, resins. The advantage of a mold made from such a mixture is an increased tightness. Due to this, the possibility that in the production process the integrity of the product structure will be violated is excluded.
Popularity also uses casting withusing a sand mold. This technology uses sand, which was compacted. This method is suitable for the serial production of large parts, for example, blades for turbines or large parts of other mechanisms.
Currently, cast iron castings are undergoing active development. In the technological sphere new production methods are successfully introduced.
