Fist rotary (UAZ). Description and Replacement
Fist rotary is designed to change the direction of the car by increasing pressure on the steering levers, which provides a change in the angle of the wheels.
This part of the vehicle is oneof the most significant. The turning fist (UAZ, Volkswagen, BMW - is not important) is the basis for the hub and is attached to other parts due to ball bearings. Usually, two types of parts are distinguished: with a hub and with a spindle.

Replacement and repair
Despite the apparent complexity, the replacement of such adetails, like a fist rotary, is not particularly difficult. The first thing to do is put the vehicle on the handbrake, then under the rear wheels substitute the rollers and lift the front of the machine with a jack.
Further the technological process is carried out according to the following plan:
- Remove the brake disc.
- Remove the pin securing.
- Remove it in the assembly with the wheel release clutch, brake disk shield and hub.
- Remove the axle shaft.
- Detach the tip of the steering rod from the pivot.
- Remove the bolts securing the ball joint to the flange of the axle housing.
- Remove the wheel stop.
- After mounting the assembly, press out the shank of the ball bearing from the half-axle housing. To do this, use a puller for ball joints.
- Carefully remove the required part, in our case, the fist rotary.
The most difficult thing behind, is that which requires attention. Carefully remove the ball bearing. Approximately this happens the repair and replacement of the pivot.
Replacement kingpins
There are still details that from time to timeneed replacing - it's kingpins. To replace them, you have to remove the pivoting fist and clamp it in a vice. After that, with the help of the mandrel, it is necessary to knock out the bushings of the pin and clean the passages for grease and the replacement spare part in the fist.
After the mandrel, new bushings are installed so that the holes in them coincide with the holes on the fist, and the open ends look towards the beam fixed on the front axle.
Simultaneously unfold both bushings up toof the required diameter. After that, clean the bushings and apply a thin layer of grease. Then, by lubricating the sealing rings and ducts in the fist bosses, the rings themselves are installed.
Possible damage
Despite the fact that the rotary fist is one of thethe most "long-playing" parts of the car, its damage is just a matter of time. Sometimes a protective cover can crack, giving access to dust and sand inside, so periodically it is necessary to control its integrity.
If it fails, the best way outthere will be a replacement. Often, you can see on the pivoting fist oil flows, indicating that the seal of the stuffing box / semiaxis is loose. Here, you just need to change the oil seal to a better one. Such problems are often found in cars that have an accident.
