Fetal hypoxia - symptoms and treatment
Possible problem
About hypoxia today they say enough. This term can be heard by any future mother in the women's consultation, the delivery room, and also at a pediatric neurologist after the birth of the baby. The thing is that hypoxia is a consequence of the abnormal complications during pregnancy or during childbirth, which then may negatively affect the child's further development. Therefore, it is worthwhile to think about prevention in advance.
Deficiency of oxygen supply to tissues and organsa baby or the incomplete digestion of oxygen is called hypoxia. The consequences of oxygen starvation in different periods of pregnancy may differ. In the early stages, with the formation of organs and systems, pronounced oxygen starvation can lead to a slowdown in the growth of the embryo and the appearance of anomalies in development. Hypoxia of the fetus - its symptoms at later periods are more dangerous - it can lead to the fetus developing more slowly, the CNS of the fetus and the newborn will be affected, as well as the adaptation processes of the child in the postpartum period. In rare situations, it can lead to the birth of a dead child or his death after childbirth.
Depending on how long the time lastsoxygen fasting, the chronic and acute hypoxia of the fetus is different. Chronic develops in the case when the fetus is not supplied with oxygen for a long time due to diseases of the organs that exist in the future mother, complications during pregnancy. It can also be caused by smoking, alcohol and drugs. Hypoxia of the fetus during childbirth can also appear and it proceeds in acute form. Very rarely, acute oxygen starvation occurs during pregnancy with a threatening state of the mother's life (premature exfoliation of the placenta, tearing uterus). Sometimes both kinds of hypoxia can be combined together.
Hypoxia of the fetus - symptoms and effects on the fetus
- in the fetus's blood there can be more molecules of oxygen than in the blood of adults;
- the heart misses considerably more blood;
- the blood contains a special fetal hemoglobinin large quantities, through which oxygen is easily attached and given to tissues and cells, which is very important in connection with the high rate of blood flow.
How to trace?
Hypoxia symptoms are different, but under the influenceThe lack of oxygen activates the function of the adrenal glands. For this reason, the production of substances involved in heart rate and fetal arterial pressure is increased. As a consequence, blood flow is redistributed, that is, blood circulation in the brain, heart and other organs becomes stronger. This is due to the fact that it is necessary to maintain the volume of blood supply and the functions of organs that are very important in the prenatal life of the child.
