Absolutely all denominations of dollar bills have their own weight of about one gram. In this case, each of them is made from special threads, in which 75% is cotton, and 25% is flax. This combination provides the money with optimum resistance to mechanical and chemical effects, and also protects them from yellowing as a result of long-term use. In addition, there are also special synthetic threads for strengthening each note. In order to bring the American banknote in total worthlessness, it will need to be bent more than 4,000 times.
Existing banknotes
Today, the denominations of dollar bills are as follows:
- One dollar. Perhaps the most mysterious note, since it contains characters that are associated with Masons: a pyramid with a truncated top, over which is in the frame of the rays a triangle with an all-seeing eye. It is considered that this sign means strength, endless growth and perfection of the American state. On the front side of the bill there is a print of George Washington, who was the head of the country in the period 1789-1797.
- Two dollars. Contains the image of Thomas Jefferson - state secretary of the period of Washington's rule.
- Five dollars. Denominations with this denomination first saw the light in 1928. They are decorated with the face of Abraham Lincoln - the sixteenth US president.
- Ten dollars. The front side of it is adorned with a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, the country's first finance minister.
- Twenty dollars. They "took over" Andrew Jackson - the seventh president of the United States. The reverse side of the note contains the image of the White House.
- Fifty dollars. On the bills with this nominal value immortalized the face of Ulysses Simpson Grant - the eighteenth US president. There was also a place on the back of the money and the Capitol building.
- One hundred dollars. They print a portrait of Benjamin Franklin.
Unprintable
There are also denominations of dollar bills that are no longer printed. Among them:
- 500 dollars. They depict the 25th US President William McKinley, who died at the hands of an anarchist.
- 1000 dollars. The note is dedicated to Stephen Grover Cleveland - the president, who was able to restore the gold standard of this currency.
- 5000 dollars. On this money is depicted James Madison - the author of the foundations of the US Constitution.
- 10,000 dollars. The note contains a portrait of Salmon Portland Chase - a man who ordered to print on American money the legendary phrase In God We Trust.
- 100,000 dollars. They depict the face of Thomas Woodrow Wilson - the 28th US president, the author of the Peace Program, which contributed to the restoration of international relations between states after the First World War.
Dislike for "dvushka"
Today, the denominations of dollar banknotes are quite diverse, but Americans especially have a particular dislike for the rarely encountered two-dollar bills. This is due to the following points:
