American coffee - three ways of cooking

During the Second World War, Allied forcesoccupied Italy. They stayed there long enough and American soldiers managed to miss their favorite coffee during the military operations. The Italian espresso for some reason did not like them. And the local barista (the experts in the preparation of coffee) tried to create a drink that would have pleased the Yankees. As a result, a new type of coffee was born, which they called coffee American. And it is believed that this name was given to this drink precisely in connection with the fact that it was invented specifically for American soldiers. But there is another opinion, according to which the name of the American was supposed to humiliate the Yankees. The Italian barista took offense at them because they preferred the American coffee filter, not the Italian espresso, which was much better in quality.

But all this is history and now coffee is Americanknow and love already in the whole world. And many coffee lovers consider its taste, as well as aromatic qualities high enough. Americans are preparing this drink in a filter coffee machine at a water temperature of 85 degrees. And it is believed that this coffee contains less caffeine. And Americans, as everyone knows, are very sensitive to their health.

But there is a Europeanized method of preparationcoffee "Americano. In fact, this is the same espresso, but with the addition of hot water. And in order to get a gentle, without a bitter taste of American, you must first cook a classic Italian espresso (14-16 grams of coffee per 100-120 milliliters of water). It is cooked in an espresso machine and is cooked (very important) for no more than 25 seconds. Then this drink is simply diluted with hot water, which is heated to 92 degrees. And the volume of water should be equal to the volume of coffee. And the coffee, the preparation of which is described above, is called Italian American. And it turns out such a drink without foam on the surface. However, the classic American has no such foam.

But there are coffee-lovers who love to drink Americancoffee with foam. To do this, you can prepare it in Swedish way. In this case, first poured boiling water in a cup, and then it already adds espresso. A cup of this boiling water here can be put in the dispenser of the coffee machine, and brew the espresso directly into it. With this preparation, the foam on the surface of the coffee will be preserved, although it becomes less resistant and lighter. The remaining parameters of the "Swedish" and "Italian" are completely identical. Although some gourmets believe that a drink prepared by the Swedish way, the taste is softer and more saturated.

And in professional coffee houses there is one more, more democratic way of serving coffee American. Here, the visitor is brought in a separate cup of espresso and in a separate glass of hot water. And the visitor already decides for himself how he will dilute the drink, and what proportions he will follow at the same time. Also some "coffee makers" can spoil the American. This happens when coffee in the machine is cooked for more than 25 seconds. Such an American will be a little bitter and with a burnt aftertaste. But an unpleasant taste - it's not so bad. This drink contains carcinogens, resins and other substances harmful to the body.

A real American is different from the presentEspresso softer, and also less bright and concentrated taste. Also, the taste of this drink depends on the type of coffee used for its preparation. Very often, too, americano is served with cream or with milk. And besides these ingredients in this coffee, you can safely add flavor fillers, various spices and even alcohol. At home, you can also cook an American, but only if there is an espresso machine on the premises. In other ways, American coffee is unlikely to work.
