The temperature at teething: a norm or anomaly?

When the child starts to appear teeth, thisalways an exciting and anticipated event for parents. However, the child may not feel so happy at the same time: in addition to the discomfort caused by eruption, his general condition may worsen, in particular, the temperature may rise.

Remember that the baby is still very small: he does not understand what is happening to him, and can not explain his feelings. Therefore, parents need to be extremely attentive to their children and help them in every possible way.

So, if a child has an increasetemperature at teething, this is not always a cause for concern. If on the thermometer the mark does not rise above 37.7, then, as a rule, there are no grounds for excitement. This is normal. The fact that during this period, inflammation of the gums develops, there is a decrease in local immunity, so everything is understandable.

Concomitant symptoms are abundantsalivation, stool change, even vomiting is possible. Saliva is more abundant than normal, because the body wants to protect itself from the inflammation that occurs in the gums. Concerning the feces of the child, we note that there may be dilution of the stool (yellow gruel), but this should not be diarrhea. If the baby has diarrhea, it is better to immediately go to the pediatrician: it is likely that this is not due to teeth, but from poisoning.

If the child has a high fever withteething, you need to call a doctor without delay. There is a risk of developing concomitant infection. There may be some other reason for the increase, which only a doctor can diagnose. Concerning vomiting, we note that it arises extremely rarely, but its appearance can be regarded more as an alarming symptom than as a norm. Therefore, at the slightest suspicion immediately call a doctor.

At a time when the child has a temperature atteething, it is very important for him to feel the support and love of his parents. For this it is necessary to render not only psychological (to be patient, not to be nervous or screaming), but also physical help. So, it is necessary to do gum massage: it improves blood circulation and speeds up the process of eruption. The principle is simple: you need to put a thumb and index finger near the wings of the nose and make circular movements in the direction of the corners of the mouth and back. This massage will help you determine which tooth will climb next.

If the temperature during teething is verydisturbs the baby, you need to try to relieve the pain that causes it. To do this, you can give the child a gnaw of something cool and hard. Now many special rings and toys have been developed, which are filled with either distilled water or non-freezing gel. They need to cool in the refrigerator (but do not freeze) and give a naughty baby. If these items are not at hand, you can use any suitable products. So, take the bread crust so large that the child does not choke on it and swallow it up. You can use an apple or a piece of carrot, which you need to wrap in a piece of bandage or a clean handkerchief. Better before use, the products also cool, because low temperatures relieve swelling, tension from the gums and relieve pain. When the pain is too strong, and the temperature during teething periodically rises, it is better to use special gels for the gums, which can be purchased at the pharmacy.

In this period it is important to protect the baby from getting intoinfection in the body: protect it from drafts, restrict communication with children, especially with patients. Immunity of the child at this time is lowered, and the risk of developing the disease increases significantly.

Remember that the high temperature during teething requires immediate medical attention.
