Skin diseases - mollusks contagious
One form of skin dermatosis ismolluscum contagiosum. This is a parasitic virus disease. Characteristically, it is a local or general rash on the mucous membranes and skin surface. An external manifestation of the disease is the presence of small spherical bubbles that have a central depression.
Brief description of pathology
Infections cause a personthere are various skin diseases. Molluscs are contagious - this is a pathology of chronic form. Infection that damages the skin remains for a certain period. It can last several months. The activity of the virus can persist even for several years. But most often rashes on the skin are noted in the interval of six to nine months.
Probable ways for infection
In some situations, skin diseases -molluscum contagious - arise during sexual acts. In this case, the infection manifests itself on the abdomen, in the groin or inside of the thighs. Infection occurs by contact with the skin of a sick partner.
The second way of infection is considered a domestic one. If there are skin diseases mollusks are contagious, while the pathology is manifested by a rash on the hands, face, and also in other areas, this fact indicates the infection through the things of a sick family member.
The causes of infections are crowding and the presence of close contacts in children's groups. This, in turn, can cause an epidemic.
Symptoms of pathology
The incubation period of the disease can last fromfourteen days to two months. That is why the source of infection is sometimes difficult to establish. If the skin disease is diagnosed as a mollusc (see photo below), it is clinically manifested by single spherical vesicles. The skin is not compacted and does not change. After a short period, a self-infection process occurs, characterized by an increase in the number of vesicles.
Neoplasms reach the size of an average pea and merge. This gives rise to hemispherical giant papules that have a depression in the center.
The patient complains of the itching of the skin in the regioninfection. From the bubble, with its accidental damage, a kash-like mass resembling a mollusk body emerges. Hence the name of the disease.
Children's pathology
Often, small patients are observedvarious skin diseases. The molluscum in children, as a rule, arises at household contacts with the infected person. In the lesion, pink or yellow nodules appear. Their size is from a small grain to a large pea. The appearance of tumors in children is accompanied by conjunctivitis.
Treatment of pathology
To get rid of molluscum contagiosum, a specialist selects an individual method for each patient. It can be:
- diathermocoagulation, or moxibustion;
- extrusion or scraping of pathogenic nodules with iodine treatment;
- use of antiviral-type ointments;
- treatment with antibiotics (with abundant rash).
