Lipovsky quarry (Sverdlovsk region): description
Lipovsky quarry (Sverdlovsk region) -the Urals deposit of minerals. Until now, precious stones have been found on dumps. Many careers after workings are abandoned. And Lipovsky refers to this category. Although it still has reserves, but not ore, and gems, and not extracted from the earth completely.
Where did the name of the quarry come from?
Lipovsky quarry (Sverdlovsk region) receivedits name from the village located nearby, just 1.5 kilometers away. The village belongs to the ancient. The first house there appeared in 1681, the village was named Lipovsky. And this is not surprising, since in the old days, when they were just starting to master this land, peasants constantly found amethysts, quartz, citrine and other gems and minerals in arable lands and gardens. And treasure hunters began to "stick" to this place.
Deposit of gems and ores
Over time, the surroundings of the village gradually surroundedhandicrafts. 1920 was the richest for found gems: aquamarines, topazes, amethysts, etc. This year 120 people worked in their careers. In the 1930s. Lipovsky quarry (Sverdlovsk region) became even more popular, as there was discovered a deposit of nickel ores. The search for gems turned out to be on the second place.
The quarry began to be developed for the extraction of nickel. He went to the Rezhiv factory. And the first smelting on it took place in 1936. Lipovsky quarry (Sverdlovsk region) exploded at night. In 1980, tourmaline was accidentally discovered in the quarry. The vein of the crystal deposit stretched for 2.5 km. The place where the ore was mined was covered with spotlights. And the crystals found after another explosion sparkled in the light.
Workers began to collect gems with bags. The length of tourmalines was up to 75 cm, and in diameter - from 15 to 25 centimeters. But for the factory bosses ore was more important. And all the tourmalines the workers filled the ground with orders. And then, together with sand and clay, they were taken to the dumps.
In 1991, when the ore reserves were exhausted, Lipovskycareer became part of the Rezhevsky Reserve. The deposit was closed. The quarry filled with water, and a small lake formed. Its maximum depth is 120 meters.
Lipovsky quarry today
After the Lipov quarry was minedall the ore, the deposit was abandoned. Vegetation and young trees begin to appear on its slopes. Near the quarry are still the facilities of the company, engaged in the extraction of ore.
Here there are farm buildings,an office building and a dining room. But all this is in a dilapidated state. Due to ore mining for the entire period, 626 hectares of land were destroyed. From it (in ha) 422 - arable lands, 72 - hayfields, 90 - forests and 38 - pastures. And somewhere under the ground all the same hidden a lot of precious stones.
On the territory of the Rezhev district the largestis considered the Lipovsky quarry. Can I swim in it? Since the deposit has long been abandoned, nature began to restore the broken harmony. And now you can swim in the lake formed on the place of the quarry. Because of the remaining "crumbs" of nickel and talc, the water in the formed lake acquired an unusual turquoise hue.
