The settlement on the bank of the river Vyatka survivedseveral renames. The chain of modifications of its name looks something like: Vyatka - Khlynov - Vyatka - Kirov. In 2008, part of the public raised the issue of returning the city its original name. However, sociological studies have shown that most urban residents do not support this idea.
