The American Mustang - a horse returned by Columbus ... Is it a historical heritage of this country?
Mustangs are horses that returned to AmericaColumbus, taking them from Spain in 1493. On the territory of North America and earlier lived primitive horses. For some reason (perhaps hunting or changes in climatic conditions), they ceased to exist on these lands.
In later times colonization of Americaimmigrants from France and England also brought their horses. After 200-300 years, a prairie who has become a wild mustang is a horse that no longer has any resemblance to the Spanish horses brought, in addition to high endurance. Enterprising horse breeders began to catch wild horses - mustangs. They crossed them with Germanic rocks. The crossing of the mustangs was also the result of the fact that in winter, the owners of the ranch released all horses to freedom so that they would feed and survive themselves, and with the advent of spring, when they needed horsepower for cultivation and movement, they caught them , capturing and wild young.
Many Americans negatively regard the wildhorses, claiming that they reduce the amount of pet food, even by noticing that wild herds live in arid areas where cows and sheep can not graze because of lack of water. Hard natural selection, which were subjected to wild horses, adapted them to the harshest conditions. In search of food, they take place on a day more than eighty kilometers.
Nowadays, if a wild herd grows very much, then a part of the horses are caught and given to the private household with a surcharge of 125 dollars for each horse taken at the ranch (meaning a mustang). The horse, whose photo will be liked, the future owner selects and takes care of her for a whole year, and only then receives the promised reward and the full right to it.
