Uglegorsk TPP: information, description, where is the
Uglegorsk TPP is one of the two mostpowerful thermal power plants in Ukraine with a peak capacity of 3600 MW. In the structure of the enterprise there are 7 power units, four of which are designed for burning gas coals, the remaining three are fuel oil or natural gas. The station is a structural subdivision of the Public Joint Stock Company "Centrenergo".
Description
Uglegorsk TPP is a powerfula heat and power complex capable of generating up to 3600 MW of electricity, which is an absolute record for Ukrainian TPPs. A similar station, built on the same project, is located near Zaporozhye.
Uglegorskaya TPP is designed to provide thermal andelectric energy consumers of the Donetsk region - the most developed in industrial terms. The station consists of two parts: the first is oriented to work with coal of gas brands, the second - with gas (fuel oil).
Where is Uglegorsk TPP
The thermal power plant is located in administrativeborders of Donetsk region, in Bahmut district. In 2-3 kilometers from it there are settlements Mironovsky, Novolugansk and the satellite town Svetlodarsk, built for the personnel of TPP. The nearest major city is Gorlovka, located 8 km southeast of the station. The address of the company: 84792, Donetsk region, Svetlodarsk-1.
Characteristic
General information about Uglegorsk TPP testifiesthat the designed capacity of the most productive second stage is designed to receive 2,400 MW. Three power units are installed in its halls, each of which is equipped with a 800 MW turbine and a single-boiler gas boiler with a steam output of 2,650 tons per hour. The turbine units are equipped with heating plants producing 15 Gcal of heat per hour.
The first phase of the Uglegorsk TPP (which in 2013year was out of action as a result of a fire) generates 1200 MW. In its composition - 4 power units, equipped with turbo-generators, generating 300 MW each. Four pulverized-coal single-shell boilers have a steam capacity of 950 t / h. Heat from here goes to the city of power engineers Svetlodarsk and to various industrial sites.
Background of construction
The history of the Uglegorsk TPP begins in the 1960sXX century. By this time, the region of Donbass, neighboring Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkov, Rostov regions have turned into one of the largest industrial clusters of the Soviet Union. The power of the already erected power plants in peak periods was not enough. The government decided to build the two largest capacitor power plants (later reorganized in TPPs) in Ukraine under a new project: one in Zaporozhye, the other in the north-east of the Donetsk region.
According to the idea, the new power plants shouldhave become more flexible in the production plan: work on several types of fuel (gas, fuel oil, gas coal), increase and decrease productivity, depending on peak loads during the day and energy consumption drops at night.
Base station
Construction work at Uglegorskaya GRES beganin 1968. Originally built infrastructure facilities, roads, communications, industrial buildings and residential areas of the city of Svetlodorsk. High-voltage backbone lines for the transmission of 330 and 110 kV voltages are provided. On the river Lugan, a dam was built to take water from it for cooling and technical use. Miracles of design thought were shown by Soviet builders: a record high 320-meter chimney was erected at the station.
The launch of the first-generation unit took placewinter of 1972. On December 3, a 300 MW coal turbine generator produced the first kilowatts of energy. After the break-in, the GRES was connected to the united power system of the country. In the course of the year, the power industry has progressively put into operation three more units operating on gas coals. By the end of 1973, Uglegorskaya GRES consistently produced 1,200 MW of energy.
Development
1974 for Uglegorsk TPP was a new stage in thedevelopment. The construction of a second, more efficient line began, the equipment of which allows using fuel oil or natural gas as a source of fuel. The first 800 megawatt block gave energy in December 1975. A year later, also in December, two more blocks were earned. Thus, the total capacity of all seven power units of the station was 3600 MW.
In 1984, a large-scalereorganization of the management system. All the important technological processes were automated in order to exclude as much as possible errors caused by the so-called "human factor".
After Ukraine gained independenceThe Uglegorsk power plant passes under the jurisdiction of the new national power. In 1995, the enterprise became part of the structure of PJSC "Centrenergo", where it is located to this day. By the way, the important stages of the enterprise development are described in the book "History of Uglegorsk TPP".
Conservation of the second stage
The strained relations that developed betweenThe Ukrainian Republic and the Russian Federation in the oil and gas issue, led to increased prices for energy. Ukraine has small reserves of gas and oil fields, raw materials have to be purchased in neighboring countries. As a result, the cost of electricity and heat generated by the second stage of the Uglegorsk TPP exceeded the permissible limits. The three most productive 800-megawatt units operating on gas (fuel oil) had to be mothballed. Thus, the actual capacity of the station for today does not exceed 1200 MW.
PE 2013
March 29, 2013 at 15:14 a large fire broke out, which occurred due to the ignition of coal dust. As a result, four turbines of the Uglegorsk thermal power plant were destroyed. The accident led to the fact that 12,000 residents of the city of Svetlodarsk remained cut off from communications. One employee of the station was killed, and thousands were left without work. The consequences of the disaster were also felt by the miners, and the beginning of financing reconstruction and social support of the population of the affected city led to an increase in the electricity tariff. However, the stoppage of the work of the Uglegorsk thermal power station did not lead to a disruption in the operation of the Ukrainian energy system.
Two weeks later, the situation at Uglegorskaya TPPcommented the Minister Eduard Stavitsky, who oversaw the energy and coal industry. He made a statement that the decision was made not to restore the burned-out 4 blocks, but to repair them in a thorough way.
According to the investigation, the state of emergency resulted in a changeThe technical conditions of exploitation, as a result of which coal dust burned. The fire spread to the roof and then spread through the shops of the first stage. By the way, unlike anthracite, gas coals are highly flammable. When they are burned, strict compliance with technical regulations is required. Multi-level fire extinguishing means must be introduced at the enterprise.
The main reason for the state of emergency is the fact that,that the absolute majority of generating capacities, which were launched even in the times of the USSR, have now exhausted their resources. At least 60% of the capacities in the thermal power industry need urgent replacement, and 90% do not correspond to the concepts of reliable and efficient operation due to the exhaustion of the marginal resource.
Emergency recovery work
Despite significant destruction, Uglegorskayathe power plant was not closed. The following several years, large-scale construction and installation works were carried out. Initially, the restoration of the coverage of the machine room No. 1 was provided. On 8/10/2013, the station power unit No. 1 was connected to the integrated power system, unit No. 4 was connected on 13.11.2013. Next, the third power unit was overhauled with the restoration of the ACS systems. In 2014, it was decided to modernize Unit No. 2 in order to restore the main equipment and increase the electrical capacity by 25 MW, improve environmental performance for dust emissions to 50 mg / nm3.
For more than forty years of continuous workUglegorsk TPP, modernization of power generating equipment was not carried out. The order of the Ministry of Energy envisages a further sequential reconstruction of the power units No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 with the increase of the electric capacity of the first stage from 1,200 MW to 1,300 MW. Also, the construction of a common plant desulfurization unit was started to improve the ecological state of the region.
Prospects
Increasing the competitiveness of Uglegorsk TPP in the future is expected due to:
- reducing the cost of electricity;
- modernization and reconstruction of equipment;
- increasing the range of maneuverability of the blocks, which is especially important in times of peak loads.
Thus, the Uglegorsk thermal power planthas great potential, but due to the unstable economic and political situation that has developed in Ukraine, the station can not operate at full capacity.
