Stones of rhodonite - a talisman of creative people
The second most important ornamental stone of the Uralsis rhodonite, since the first place belongs to the famous malachite. And its name comes from the Greek "Rhodos", which means "pink" or "rose". And it corresponds to the color of this mineral, since the rhodonite stones can be pink, scarlet and crimson, sometimes with a gray tinge. This color of this mineral is associated with the presence in its composition of a large amount of manganese. But it is not homogeneous. It happens that on one stone there are bright red, and dark brown-red, and medium in brightness. This coloring depends on the percentage content of other minerals in it. That is, the less impurities in it, the more beautiful the rhodonite, the stone, whose photo is shown below.
Some of these minerals contain veinsoxides of manganese, which are black. And on a pink background they form beautiful and complex drawings, and sometimes whole landscapes. Also come across stones that resemble a jasper ribbon, alternating with brown, black, pink and gray stripes. The mineral rhodonite is found in nature in small amounts often enough. But there are not many large deposits of this mineral. In Russia, two such ones were discovered in the 18th and 19th centuries. They for many years gave material for the production of rhodonite bowls, vases, floor lamps, obelisks, amulets and other handicrafts. Many of them are now kept in the Hermitage.
For example, rhodonite stones were used forthe manufacture of world famous floor lamps, the height of which is 280 centimeters. And now they are decorated with the grand staircase of the Hermitage. Even in this museum there is no less well-known oval vase made from the Urals rhodonite. Its height is 85 centimeters, and the diameter is 185 centimeters. And in Peter, in the cathedral of Peter and Paul is the most precious product, which is made of this stone. This is the sarcophagus of Princess Mary Alexandrovna. A solid block of rhodonite went into its manufacture, which weighed 47 tons. And after the extra stone was removed, there was a sarcophagus weighing 7 tons.
Still there is an opinion that stones of rhodonite have somemystical properties. For example, in the opinion of sorcerers and psychics, this mineral is able in a desperate person to awaken the desire to live, to encourage and guide it on the path of creation. Therefore, they use balls made from rhodonite, during their meditations. And in Europe this stone is attributed to other properties. They believe that he is able to awaken secret, hidden talents in a person, and to develop them and help him achieve fame and glory. In the east, it is believed that the stones of rhodonite evoke love, where this stone is compared with charity and compassion. And the person who owns it, begins to be more gentle towards others, becomes joyful and cheerful. Rodonit is considered a wise jewel, which teaches to perceive life with gratitude.
