Vow of celibacy: everything is so difficult

Celibacy, or celibacy, is given only forreligious reasons. This explains the Orthodox priests. Officially, it is possible only when a person takes a monastic order. Actually, for every person, the church believes, there are only two great roads: monasticism, one of whose obediences is the vow of celibacy, or family life.

The way of a layman who wishes to give a vowcelibacy, celibacy is not considered: it is a personal choice of each person, a small path between two great roads. However, clergymen remind people, people and without any vows need to remember: any relationship (we are talking about sex) outside marriage - is nothing but fornication, ie, sin. Some people, superficially familiar with religion, argue that the vow of celibacy does not mean the absence of sexual ties. This is not true. Any intimate relationship (with women, men, especially children) outside marriage is fornication and sin.

Celibacy of the clergy

Celibacy is associated only with men,because a woman can not be a priest. The church does not insist on accepting this vow, but the apostle Paul explained: a man who is not burdened with marriage ties thinks more about the spiritual, while a man who has a wife and children - about the flesh, the earthly and the worldly. This does not prevent him from serving God, but an unmarried priest still does it better. Mandatory celibacy in Orthodoxy is only for bishops, and in Catholicism - for most priests and deacons, bishops.

However, there are cases when bishopsbecame widowers. They accepted Celibacy only upon receiving the rank. The vow of celibacy extends not only to marriage, but to all types of sex, including masturbation.

Causes of celibacy

The main reason for giving a vow of celibacy,is the desire to please and serve God in every way, to get rid of fleshly sins, which are considered sexual relations, as well as a test of will power. However, not only for religious reasons, people make vows. Famous journalist, atheist and erudite Anatoly Vasserman gave at the age of 17 a celibacy vow to prevent his wife from interfering with science.

However, this is not celibacy: Wasserman, according to his confession, refused only marriage. If we talk about women, then the vow of celibacy, which they accept, is often called a vow of chastity. Give it, either fanatical believers, or feminists.

How to give a vow of celibacy?

A vow can be given for life or for somelimited time. Violation of it is a grave sin. Everyone who is going to take this step should know this. However, to make a vow, it is not necessary to attend a church.

On the Danger of the Vow

• The lack of the necessary sexual relaxation for men leads to systematic masturbation (which is already a sin), and sometimes to sexual crimes.

• Some priests, trusting that the Bible forbids only sex with women, become pedophiles or homosexuals.

• Lack of intimate life often leads to the development of diseases of the male sexual sphere: prostatitis, atrophy of the bladder, cancer.
