Death of the priest. Roman Nikolaev: biography, investigation and versions of the murder

July 29, 2015, Kiev was shocked by the terrible news: The priest Roman Nikolayev died from a heavy gunshot wound. He was loved by parishioners, he was only a little over forty, he had a wife, son and grandson. We ate on Roman's at night from 25 to 26 July. Two unknown men in masks waited for the priest's return at the entrance of his house, located on the street. Heroes of Stalingrad. When one of the intruders noticed him, he aimed at him in the head. Father Roman was not robbed, since his personal belongings remained with him. The wounded Roman Nikolayev remained bleeding on the stairs until he was discovered by a neighbor who immediately called an ambulance and the police. Roman died in intensive care on the fourth day.

Roman Nikolayev (priest): biography

Roman was born on February 7, 1975. He served as a sexton at the temple of Kosma and Damian since 2004. And in 2005 Roman Nikolayev entered the Kiev Theological Seminary. Since 2009, he begins to serve in the office of a deacon at the temple of Cosmas and Damian. Since 2013, has already been ordained a priest. Soon he was appointed the chief and responsible person for the construction of the St. Tatiana Church in the Obolon district of the city of Kiev, where he was later assumed to serve as rector.

Law enforcement agencies immediately sent allforces to search for persons guilty of a crime and opened a case on the fact of deliberate murder, threatening criminals from 7 to 15 years in prison. Now it is difficult to judge the motives of this atrocity.

At all times, the murder of a priest was consideredthe most unprecedented thing that only a low man can do, because clergymen do not have the right to defend themselves with fights and weapons, they also do not participate in the political struggle without sympathizing either side. Thus, violence against the defenseless is predetermined.

About Roman said that he makes an impressionrespectable and friendly person. In connection with the power change of power in Ukraine and the unleashed war in the Donbass, the situation in the country is still tense, people are divided into two opposing camps and religiously too (the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is constantly accused of all deadly sins). In politics, too, there was a strong split. However, Roman Nikolaev, a priest of the UOC-MP, is the man who never exposed his political views in social networks.

Versions

A slightly strange version is being processed that the killing could be associated with the construction of the temple, since there were activists opposing its creation.

However, with this tragic event, morerather strange circumstances. On the day of St. Martiana Tatiana, February 25, 2014, a solemn event was held - the place and the first laying of the stone of the church under construction was consecrated by Bishop Theodosius of Boyar. On the second day, the unknown board was flooded with orange paint. On this unpleasant event wrote on his page in Facebook, the hieromonk of the Desyatinny Monastery in Kiev, Malchisedek (Gordienko).

People's Deputy immediately sent a paper to the state administration of Kiev to Vladimir Makeenko to get all the information about the land, by whom and when it was allocated for the construction of the temple.
